It's 2021: Let's park those EDC revolvers and get serious

I'm not comfortable leaving home without air support.

In case I'm suddenly accosted by a Russian armored battalion, I want to be ready.

"Wolverines !!!!!!!!" Single action Colt and scoped Bolt gun ; and the ability to "Dirty Dance" are all you need to start your AK collection!!!!!!

:D

Of course he is, and he's entitled to his opinion. Feel free to disagree with him, but don't call him Shirley.

I sold all my J-frame revolvers, not because I didn't like them - I just didn't seem to shoot them as well as an auto. I'm firmly in the Dad mode, where breaking contact is the objective and not to be the point man in a shootout.

In all actuality, if I need more than three rounds I need to reassess and find the nearest exit, pronto. High capacity is nice, but Lord save us if someone like me ever really need 15 rounds in one sitting.

The OP has some valid points but is a bit heavy handed with them.

I carried a snubbie daily for about 10 years. When the LCP Max was introduced I got one because loaded at 15 oz I could increase my capacity by 160%.

When I carry my LCR instead of the Max I am certainly not unarmed.

About 25 years ago, I worked part-time in an endeavor where I needed a carry permit. I sought a recommendation on what I should carry from a close friend who was a weapons engineer for Uncle Sam, and has forgotten more than I've ever known about the use of firearms in combat.

His advice was simple: Carry my 2-1/2" S&W Model 19. Why, I asked? His reply: The average gunfight is over in 3 rounds, and the .357 Magnum is the most effective handgun cartridge known in terms of one-shot stops.

I don't know how many police officers in this country, on an annual basis, have to reload during a sustained gunfight, but I'll bet it isn't many of them. I think the likelihood of a civilian having to do so is even smaller. Carry whatever you want, and whatever you can shoot well...but I will never feel unprotected with a revolver.

I retired in August 2018 as the last revolver toter on my agency. I promised my officers that if any of them beat my qualification scores that I would switch to the Glock 22 they carried. I never had to Switch. My EDC is a Taurus 856 loaded with 6 Federal 130 grain HST .38 Spl +P. There are 2-3 speed strips with Winchester 130 grain "Defend" JHP .38 Spl in my pocket. When I go to the city, I add my S&W Model 65-1 with a pair of HKS speed loaders carrying Speer 135 grain "Short Barrel" .357 Magnum.
