It's 2021: Let's park those EDC revolvers and get serious

If you are on my Ranch and shoot a 275 # wild boar with a little pissant 9mm, prepare to have it spit back at you . If you are in South America or South west Asia as I have been with SEAL TEAMS and shoot a drug fueled attacker with that 9mm, prepare to empty the magazine and draw your knife. I carry 44 mag on Ranch and 45 ACP on street.

The very best carry pistol of all times by far is, the one you'll actually carry. That sounds simple but it seems to be a difficult concept to grasp for many. I have spoken to guys who have gone through a drawer full of holsters trying to make the wrong pistol work for them. Your size and how you dress all effect what is comfortable to carry. You shouldn't have to dress for your gun. It should just blend in with whatever you normally wear. If it starts to seem like a hassle wearing it you're not likely to carry for long. If you can carry a full sized auto that's great for you. There's no way I could conceal a full size pistol. If that's what I had to carry it would probably just sit in my safe. Wouldn't do me much good there. Carry what works for you. Whether that's a snubbie (my choice) a small semi or a full sized revolver or semi. If it's easy to carry you'll have it. Otherwise you'll always find an excuse not to have it with you.

Up the road from me in Vermont, I met a Vet one day on Memorial Day and he stopped on his scooter in front of my yard and thanked my wife and I for putting up a sign thanking Veterans for their service. We got to talking and he told me he was Green Beret in Vietnam in the 60's. He told me he used to do
"a lot of damage" I said he must have some amazing stories.
He said he's forgotten them all. He carried a J Frame snub on his hip.

Since time is money, during the nine decades I worked at a cheese factory, we switched over to BHPs in 1936, once we knew they were reliable.
Left handed hole punching often resulted in a Swiss Miss.

My CC renewal class was jam-packed full. When we went to qualify, there was me, and one other revolver shooter. And he had an NAA mini.
Apparently lots of folks subscribe to the Rambo stuff.

Similar experience here, in central Illinois. I was the only revolver shooter (640 Pro) in my renewal class. Everybody else was using plastic mid and full size semi autos. As the owner of the range/store told some of them, "the pistolero there (nodding to me) outshot you all". Which spoke more about their lack of ability than it did my shooting prowess, since I consider myself an average shot. in Illinois, the shooting portion of the certification is so easy I'd be surprised if anybody has ever failed it.

To the OP, I want to see your creel. With the bait you used you
caught a bunch of them.

Heh. Me included, I suppose.
But in our defense, it gave a lot of folks a chance to air out their opinions that they (we) don't get to use often in a defensive manner in public, since no one challenges our views, but agrees with them instead.

When I first started carrying a gun I bought into the gear hound mindset but as time has gone by I've learned. John Corriea has reviewed THOUSANDS of citizen self defense instances and has NEVER seen a Citizen Defender have to reload. I've studied a little and I only know of ONE. The watchmaker in San Francisco(?) who kept getting his shop robbed.

I'm going to continue to carry a Glock but I'm not going to think someone with a revolver (or a 1911) is under gunned
