Oh man........ one of those mornings......

I make cold brew coffee in a French press. If I get grounds anywhere but the bottom of the pot, I know where to place the blame.

May I suggest a fruit drink instead of coffee in the morning? Smirnoff Ice coolers are great. Seagrams coolers have a nice taste. Just one, though, then go for the caffienated beverage of your choice. Actually, wife usually makes the coffee. If I do, it's because I set it up the night before.

My morning was fine yeaterday. Then right after lunch it took a nose dive. I was out in the shop making a top plate so my stove top espresso maker would sit on one of those single burners that screws on top of a small bottle. Got careless with a 6" .045 disk on a grinder and nicked my left fore finger good. Bleeding like a stuck hog. Go in the house and find the girls had used up all the band-aids etc. Toilet paper and electrical tape. I was going to hit the store, but was setup to get a pneumonia shot at VA clinic so thought I would get the nurse there to tape it up. They decide I need stitches, so off to local emergency room after my shot. Nurse got me in a room and took my vitals and then asked if I wanted anything while I waited. I jokingly said Ice cream. She was back in a few minutes with a cup of vanilla and one of strawberry. Ate those to ease the pain. Then the Dr come looks it over, cleans it up, ow, then sticks a needle in it several times to numb it up OW. 3 stitches and a enough bandage to make my finger about an 1 1/2" in diameter, a visit with the billing dept and out the door I go.

By the time I finally get back home and explain to wife it is almost 4pm

5 PM fire up the BBQ and toss on some huge ribs from my cow. Toward the end BBQ is smokin cause of the fat dripping off. Dummy me I open the lid with face right there and it flares up and singes my left eyebrow near off as well as trimming some hair. Good eating though.

Then my arm and body started aching from the shot which almost never happens with me.

Could have been worse

Today is a new day and it is supposed to be in the high 40s

The wife and I would need 4 or 5 "K cup equivalents" for the morning. We use a WalMart "filter cup" with a fine mesh. There is a bit more "fine grinds" in the bottom of the cup, a small trade off. She fires up the pot when she gets up @ 4:15 am for work. When I get up at 8, all the unnecessary water is steamed out of my half. I'm already on my 2nd 16 oz cup and can feel the pipes opening slowly in my head. Joe

Those little cups are OK but a little pricey for a cheap old *** like me. LOL
I use them sparingly.

They'd break the bank with the rate I'd go through them. No thanks. And you can't "adjust" to taste either.

This is why many of us drink cheap coffee in the AM. If it goes wrong, we don't give rats and it doesn't foul up the whole morning....
 Who is this "we" of whom you speak? Some of us do worship The Divine Bean, y'know! :D

It's just gone 7 am here so am about to do my morning meditation "by the dawn's early light" :)

Well, as the Romans used to say:

Now, screw up my coffee after an expensive meal out and you best own a good bunker.

I don't buy commercial coffee. I buy unroasted beans and take care of the roasting myself. Full disclosure: I am a coffee snob. Not the stereotypical coffee snob, I think.... I hope.... But I enjoy excellent coffee and my own homeroast beats anything else I've tasted. IMNHO of course.

With that said, a bad cup in the morning won't ruin my day. There are plenty of other things to ruin one's day and I'm thankful they're rare occurrences.

I used to keep a box of gauze and a roll of duct tape in the glovebox of my truck :-)

Had one of those 2am headaches that just wont let go. Head to the kitchen Cabinet and find the bottle of aspirin never been opened, pull off the plastic cap and just at I pull off that foil from the lid i lost my grip the bottle bounces off the counter top and wala 500 of those buggers scatter faster than kids after dinner... still finding them in places i never knew existed ..

I do keep a large elastic bandage in my trucks glove compartment. Forgot about that and it would have been serious over kill for my finger. Always electric and duct tape in shop and plenty of shop rags

Oh man......

This isn’t about coffee, but it’s along those same lines.
My favorite taste is, Green, stuffed, processed olives.

During a sleepless night, last night, it occurred to me that I had not eaten olives, in quite a long time. After what seemed an hour, an unopened quart of green, stuffed, olives were finally located, stored in the bottom of a kitchen cupboard. What seemed an hour, I spent, trying to open them. When the lid of that quart jar finally popped opened, out spilled what seemed to be a gallon of olives, and juice, onto the kitchen cabinets, and floor. By the time that mess was cleaned up, most of the night was spent, and I’d lost my craving for olives.

What a waste of time, energy, olives, and olive juice!
