The Russians have gone in

From BWZ's BBC link in post 1268,

...In the separatist Donbas enclaves of Donetsk and Luhansk, Ukrainian forces have been combat-tested for the past eight years. Between 250,000 and 400,000 Ukrainian men may have done tours of duty there since 2014.
"Ukraine is not the same country it was in 2014," one front line commander told me - echoing a sentiment that was repeated again and again to me in Kharkiv....

I read in either the WaPo or NYT this AM an article saying that due to the fighting since 2014, there were 900,000 experienced veterans in Ukraine. Whatever the number is, that is a lot of Ukrainian guys with experience fighting what appears to be mostly inexperienced and poorly motivated Russian conscripts...

The situation in Ukraine is getting very ugly. Confirmed by "credible" Americans , "special ops" guys who have put their boots on the ground. Their presence is one of providing aid and medical supplies to those who are directly facing combat.
If you watch the attached You Tube video , you will see that the support has grown to military training for the civilians who enlisted , and have zero experience.

If you do watch the video , its obviously your decision to believe the authenticity , I do versus the MSM clowns.

So, Onomea, perhaps the
Ukrainians should send a
thank you note to Putin for
the 2014 and continuing
dustup for their excellent
military training.

"Dear President Putn,
Couldn't have done it
without you."

Maybe we should send a thank you note to him, too:

"Dear President Putin, thanks so much for encouraging our fellow NATO members to step up to the plate by increasing their defense spending to allow for true self and collective defense. We tried for years on our own to get them to increase defense spending without much success. Couldn't have done it without you..."

I saw, hopefully true, that another General has not been seen in some time in Moscow.

I was channel-surfing news stations on Sirius XM while driving today, so I don't remember who said it, but the point was made that no matter how this immediate situation in Ukraine ends, Russia can never be a major player on the world stage again until Putin is gone. He has totally destroyed Russia's relationship with its neighbors, and with the civilized world at large, for at least a generation.

The president was visiting with the 82nd Airborne today in Poland, and that led to a discussion of the fact that our increased troop presence over there won't be temporary; it's about to become a permanent part of the European security structure. Putin's "special military operation" is truly a game-changer.

My cousin Ed was a tanker in the Army, and spent most of his career in Germany. I remember his letters home in the '70s, talking about the Fulda Gap and the "pucker factor"...Holy Cold War, Batman, it's deja vu all over again!

Some prominent Russians quit jobs, refuse to support war

Associated Press
Today at 3:37 a.m. EDT

WaPo article here (free access)
The resignation of a senior Russian government official and his reported move abroad wasn't the first voluntary departure of a person from a state job since the start of Russia's war with Ukraine, but it certainly was one of the most striking.

Anatoly Chubais, who was President Vladimir Putin's envoy to international organizations on sustainable development, is well known in Russia. He held high profile posts for nearly three decades, beginning under Boris Yeltsin, the first post-Soviet leader.

A number of public figures have condemned the invasion of Ukraine and left their posts at state-run institutions and companies, which could signal divisions in Russia's official ranks over the war. ...

On Wednesday, the Kremlin confirmed media reports about the resignation of Chubais, 66, who was the architect of Yeltsin's privatization campaign. ...

...Arkady Dvorkovich once served as Russia's deputy prime minister and is currently chairman of the International Chess Federation,

...Lilia Gildeyeva was a longtime anchor at the state-funded NTV channel, which for two decades has carefully toed the Kremlin line. She quit the job and left Russia shortly after the invasion.

... Zhanna Agalakova was a journalist for another state-run TV channel, Channel One, spending more than 20 years there ...

Referring to the 2014 annexation of Crimea and the support of the separatists in Ukraine, she said that she "could not hide from the propaganda anymore," even as a foreign correspondent. Agalakova said she had to "only talk about the bad things happening in the U.S."

"My reports didn't contain lies, but that's exactly how propaganda works: You take reliable facts, mix them up, and a big lie comes together. Facts are true, but their mix is propaganda," she said.

US Army Green Berets have been in the Ukraine since 2014 training the locals for an insurgency, and to train their regular military. It is what the Green Beanies were formed for.

And the Russian general killed by his own troops was run over with a tank. Russian troops attack own commanding officer after suffering heavy losses

Your tax dollars doing good work through each Embassy's Office of Defense Coordination (ODC) - they use SOFLE (Spl Ops Forces Liaison Elements) a lot, but also can reach any tech specialty in any service. In example, I met the Commandant of the USCG in the Philippines in 2016 or 17 where they were providing training to Philippine CG and the Phil Natl Police Maritime Group.
