I call bovine excrement.
We're pulling hard for the Ukrainians because they were being pushed by a Russian puppet back toward Russia and they stood up, then revolted in the Maydan Revolution (the 'Revolution of Dignity') in 2014. They paid in blood to be able set their own path, which is still toward the West, with the ultimate goal of EU accession. They want peace, freedom, and democracy, and are paying for those in blood now. Just like we did so long ago.
We and the EU have been helping them democratize their old corrupt, Russian-style institutions, and the Ukrainians are loving it. They like having more transparent and less-corrupt police and public institutions; they've got some distance to go to get up to Western standards, but recall they were under Russia's thumb since the Soviet Union crushed them in the early 1920s; Ukrainians had no tradition of democracy before that, either. They are making steady progress.
My little view into the process was through varied police assistance to Ukraine provided by two of my employing entities. My old boss refers to Ukrainians as, "...Europe's Texans."
There is indeed media brainwashing, but it's from the alt-media that truly knows nothing of the Ukraininan people and their fight against two utterly unprovoked Russian invasions - Crimea in 2014, then again starting in February.
Slava ukraini (Слава Україні)!
