Well it happened, after 25 years and lots of hours of operation my old Echo blower died on me. Checked around and it appears that its a bit dated and not all parts are available. Time to get a new one.

Back pack leaf blowers are a popular topic on here and a couple car forums I also haunt, so plenty of info out there

Went to the big box and of course bought another Echo 2 stroke. ( 58,2 CCs, PB580h/t) Got to say the instruction were a bit hard to work with, printing was very small and in a multitude of languages. It did say you could go to a website for more help. Its not rocket science and I just winged it. Had it running in about 10 minutes.

Took it out to my large back yard and let her work. WOW it has serious torque could easily feel it on my back when I went from idol to WOT. Its at least 50% more powerful than its predecessor which did a decent job!. Quite possible to blow leaves 20'. I have a lot of big maple and oak on my property and they drop leaves in depth. Not a problem this blower made light work out of them.

What I done yesterday in a hour would have easily been 2-2 1/2 hours with my now departed old Echo. I noted it is a two stroke and it uses the same mix ratio as other tools and toys I now own. It does have a bigger fuel tank but as a car gut I know you pay for performance. FWIW its also a bit quieter than the one it replaced, wearing ears is still a must!

As of now I'm a very happy camper.
Its warranty is 2 years if commercial used and 5 years for private use, based on my other Echo this bad boy will outlive me easy.

In no particular order, Echo and Red Max are my first 2 choices for backpack blowers and weed whips. I'm still running my Red Max backpack blower that's 20 years old, and it still works like a champ. With that and my Blue Tooth Work Tunes ear muffs I can blow leaves all day.

My house has about 2 acres of lawn that is in the middle of 5 acres of mature woods. The only way that I can keep up with the leaves is with a Little Wonder blower. It has a 9hp Honda engine and boy will it move leaves.

My house is surrounded on all sides by huge old oaks, tulip poplars, and maples. Leaf blowing is an almost daily activity for me this time of year. I'm currently using a Stihl 800 C-E Magnum. Yeah, kinda pricey, but worth every penny. It makes the job lots easier, even when the leaves are soaking wet. I named it Igor. it sleeps in the house and likes to be fed at regular intervals.

Sounds like my place. Got to keep up with it or you get inches of leaves. Trees took their time about dropping this year. A eyeball measurement of leaves still attached to the trees is now down to about 5%. About ready for the final blow off!

Same here! And with 4 large dogs, it'll move poop too! [emoji2957]

Those Little Wonders do work well but they're a bugger to pull start!

Igot a REDMAX EBZ8500 4 years ago and it is a beast. I saw a video where a guy was blowing a red brick across his driveway. That convinced me what to buy.

I supervise a local park which includes grounds maintenance. I have 4 Toro Z-Turn mowers, A John Deere 1575 wide area mower (with broom ), a half dozen Toro backpack blowers, Sthil. Red Max and Echo weed whips, Stihl and Husqvarna chain saws & pole saws, a few 4x4 John Deere Gators, etc.

Along with the backpack blowers and Little Wonder blower, I also have a Buffalo Turbine blower that we pull behind a Gator or Golf Cart. You want to talk about blowing some leaves? This baby will blow the siding off of the maintenance garage......don't ask me how I know that.

Actually, this is very easy to start. Normally on the first pull, occasionally 2 pulls. You don't just give it a hard yank, but a forceful easy pull and away it goes.

The one I have is 20 years old. That sucker has so much compression that you nearly pull your shoulder out of socket when you pull start it. iIt has a long, hard pull. A lot of times I have to give it a squirt of starting fluid in the air box to make it start easier.

Dats da fact jack...

Picked up a 40V Ryobi. Shocking how much air it will blow. Easily as good as my 2 stroke Husky

Yep 40 volts makes all of the difference. After years of multiple pulls and lots of swearing to get my Homelite gas blower to run... and stay running, I finally gave it away. Down to home Depot for the 40V Ryobi paired with their 40V weed wacker and I will never go back to gas. The single battery will run either for about 40 minutes and recharges in about an hour. Next on my list is the matching 40V chain saw.

Admittedly, since I cut down 80ish dead ash trees in my yard my leaf volume has gone from completely absurd to somewhat manageable. I have the large tow behind DR vacuum that makes the grass area pretty easy to clean. My beds and perimeter of my barn and house, etc. I prefer to use the DR 25' hose to suck up the leaves rather than blow them. I too have an old Echo back pack that still starts easily and blows the leaves fairly well. I also have a Stihl handheld blower for quick cleanups. I love the upstate NY fall, but I hate leave duty.

Same here. The only gas units I now have are my riding mower and snowblower. Keeping those for now (mowing an acre and living in Minnesota you know) but now all my outdoor handheld tools are battery.

I started several years ago with the Stihl battery tools, weed trimmer, blower, and chainsaw.

Happy with all but as I said this was several years ago. Still using the blower and trimmer but switched to a Greenworks chainsaw, but this was mainly for the chain. Stihl uses a proprietary thinner chain, supposedly to make easier cuts, but I disagree, makes for slower less efficient cuts. I switched to a Greenworks using a standard chain. Very happy. Cut a pickup truck load of camp fire wood this last weekend, no problem.

All these run longer than I do :). So I appreciate a mandatory coffee break after a few hours :).

IMO Greenworks or EGO 40 V, and now I am seeing some 60 volt, tools have surpassed the Stihl line and are hard to beat, especially for the average homeowner.
