checking for a friend. he has a smith 686 that he thinks was build by bill davis. it has a non fluted cylinder. says 1of 500. it has a ppc target stamped on the frame side. it has the standard smith rear adjustable sight. the trigger is the .312 smooth. the poor picture he showed me appears to be a standard 686 bbl.
i am lucky to get on this site so pictures are out.

thank you

Check SCSW4, page 322. Bottom right under "Variations". Product Code 104254, 5", made for Bill Davis, dual speed loader cutouts, unfluted cylinder, 500 were manufactured, 1989 National Match.

My thinking is this is a Commemorative, and possibly prizes for PPC Match's.

Looks like a great gun.

Hey Rich! I traded a B/D "Windmaster" to you for your Tanaka PPC Revolver about 20 years ago. I retired in 2005 and sold the Tanaka to a Sergeant on the Honolulu P.D.!

Smiles,

John

Bill Davis

He was at one time from the Sacramento area. Don't know about now.

I have one of his PPC revolvers on a Smith Model 64 frame, Apex 10 land and groove barrel and winged Aristocrat rib. Incredible accuracy.
