What song lyric strikes a deep truth for you ?

Wish I could have been there. Song by John Anderson.
After 45 plus years driving long haul I realized what I have missed. The song just doesn't even come close to telling the story but it's only a 3 minute song.

Some fellow named Robert Johnson sang about .32-20 and the .38 Special.

She got a .38 special but I believe it's most too light

I got a .32-20, got to make the caps alright

FWIW, Robert Johnson's demise was unpleasant, but he set a theme for the eventual emergence of rock & roll. A true lost talent.

On that theme, Warren Zevon and Werewolves of London really speaks to me. He also wrote the superlative song about modern day Viking, Roland.

In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkeley
Patty Hearst heard the burst of Roland's Thompson gun and bought it

Oh, for a nice chair to sit in with loved ones and tell stories while listening to theirs. The thought of this has become a resting place for me. The road less travelled does not always bring self first, and watching from afar can be like standing in a cold rain outside while everyone else has Thanksgiving Dinner.
We all dance differently.

I can never answer these.....

... with just one song. I've spent my life as a musician and doing a lot of singing along with my wife, so yeah, it's important to me. A lot of songs move me deeply, but some are more personal.
So I'll give it a try:

The Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible really sums up my whole outlook. Two songs use this as a reference. 'Dust In The Wind' by Kansas and 'Turn, Turn, Turn' by the Byrds.

Bob Dylan's 'Hard Rain's Gonna Fall' is pretty close to the tree for me. I'd put a few more of his in for good measure.

'Go Not Far From Me, O God' by Zingarelli

'The End' by the Beatles. Last song they all recorded together. Fifteen words of profound truth.:)

I guess that's all for now.

The Garden - Rush

In this one of many possible worlds
All for the best or some bizarre test?
It is what it is and whatever
Time is still the infinite jest
The arrow flies when you dream
The hours tick away, the cells tick away
The Watchmaker keeps to his schemes
The hours tick away, they tick away
The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect
So hard to earn, so easily burned
The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect
So hard to earn, so easily burned
In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect

In the rise and the set of the sun
'Til the stars go spinning
Spinning 'round the night
Oh, it is what it is and forever
Each moment a memory in flight
The arrow flies while you breathe
The hours tick away, the cells tick away
The Watchmaker has time up his sleeve
The hours tick away, they tick away
The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect
So hard to earn, so easily burned
In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect
It's a measure of a life
The treasure of a life
Is a measure of love and respect
The way you live, the gifts that you give
In the fullness of time
Is the only return that you expect
The future disappears into memory
With only a moment between
Forever dwells in that moment
Hope is what remains to be seen
Forever dwells in that moment
Hope is what remains to be seen
In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect
It's a measure of a life
In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect
It's a measure of a life

On a lighter note...

Takes me back to when I was a high schooler and captures all those emotions.

Love to sing along with Meat Loaf. This song always gives me an emotional boost!

"...now I'm prayin for then end of time.....so I can end my time with you!"

Gosh, Ken, I knew when I first read your note and heard your song this was going to be a provocative thread.

So true it is. This outstanding collection of friends' memorable songs has stirred every emotion I know.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful collection of music.

Here are two I've known well since high school days, more than 53 years ago. They became my theme songs then, and they've played a powerful roll ever since. I am a happy-go-lucky laddy, I live life to its fullest, and like Lee Ann Womack's song suggests, "I... dance" -- special thanks for that one, YeshuaIsa53.
