Fair condition Highway Patrolman

One of my old Dad's handguns was a well-worn 28. I passed that one on to his grandson. Found an example in much better condition from a private seller for $500, but that was 10 years ago. I have a 19 and a Ruger Speed Six. If I was limited to one .357, it would be the 28.

One one gun guru I knew years ago told me
"You don't shoot bluing !"
Bought my 6" in 1981-$140-was looking for a 4", the 6" was the only one I had seen.

If I was in the market & function is good I would be a buyer @ that price shipped. However since I have a 4" & 6" that were purchased years ago for considerably less I am not in the market.

:) -don

I called the shop. He said he'd ship it to me for $600, so I'd be out of pocket $625 with my transfer fee on this end.

Well, life has a way of helping with decisions like this. Having to shell out the amount I would spend on this gun on rotors, pads, and a caliper for my wife's car instead. I HATE spending money on NON-fun stuff!

The rear brakes still work sometimes though, right? And if you have a comfy couch, you could just buy the gun and get her a bus pass.

I totally get it BUT think it's hilarious how we get hung up on $10-$20 when buying a $600 item. I once walked away from a gun show shotgun for $10. My buddy rolled his eyes and said "I'll give u the 10 bucks. Buy the damn thing". As a group, gun guys are a funny bunch lol

Lots of Highway Patrolman fans here on the Forum, including me. Although there are a few surface condition issues on that Model 28-2, $625 is still a great price. Since it is in good mechanical condition, buy it, clean it up, and shoot the heck out of it. They may not be quite as pretty as Model 27s, but HPs are built like tanks. Enjoy!

Had to let mine go...still have regrets!

Owing to a medical issue I had to let my Magnums go a couple years ago. Since then I've invested in other S&W's and not really looked back, or missed the 44 Mag (Model 29-2), several "pre-27's", the 27-2's...but the 4" HP is still missed as it was just such a great gun to handle 357 Mag and even in my hands could put those rounds right where they were supposed to be.

Mine was Lettered shipping Oct. 13, 1975 to Maryland Police Supply in Baltimore.

Great gun, honest condition...sold in June of 2021 for $750 shipped and insured which cost me about $75.00 so I netted $675 for the gun.

To the OP: It is now 2 weeks plus..........IF.....IF..... that gun is still not yours, I would be running and probably stumbling while trying to run and get my wallet out at the same time!!!:D
