A cashless Walmart?!?!

The "end game" for a lot of merchants is not to get robbed. I don't think that's an unreasonable concern.

My endgame is not to get robbed, as had to shut down another cc today after it getting hacked. Admittedly it is only the third time in about 10 yrs. Never had anyone steal cash from me. Certainly it is reasonable for the merchants if it helps them, especially if their customers are willing.

For the people willing to keep all their finances electronically, good luck to em. With absolutely no proof, got a feeling much more money is stolen electronically than cash stolen.

So "they" includes the Canadian government?
Yes.

Who else is included in "they"?
Obviously financial institutions. Also big tech.

Do "they" communicate and coordinate with each other?
If "they" didn't communicate and coordinate with each other, how else would "they" have known which assists to seize?

What you described -- freezing assets -- is a common tool governments have used for decades to shut down illegal activity.
You said it was a conspiracy theory that the gov wants to control and track money. Which is easier for the .gov to track and control, cash or digital currency?

If citizens of any given country -- especially a Western democracy -- don't want their government to be able to do that, aren't there remedies -- elections, courts? -- available for that?
Are there? It seems the governments are doing whatever they want and nobody is held accountable for anything. BTW there are a lot of people who are not elected make decisions and are not accountable to voters.

I guess people will just have to vote harder to change things, right?

I have a sign in the pawnshop, I Take Cash!. Have gotten more than one comment on it.
Any business that wants to add a % on for using a card either gets cash or none of my business.

Always carry cash, certainly never use any cards at a gas station, and pay all bills with a check, and yes, by snail mail. Sorry, I'm old school and it has never failed me. If we ever go to a "no cash " system, the powers that be will be able to track ever financial move you make .

Personal checks are more secure than electronic transfers nowadays. That’s one reason I still pay all my bills with them.
I use cash for almost everything else.

On a Friday afternoon I asked for $90,000 CASH from my account.

Officer song & danced several verses - not a lot of cash kept in vault

How much can I get?

$10,000

I walked out.

Monday with a different officer I got MY CASH.

Talked with bank president - first officer was recent hire and probably still doing things the way his previous employment might have had a cash limit.

Bekeart

I presume you know that after you left the bank a report was filed with the FBI giving them a heads-up with details of your withdrawal so they can check you out.

Our local store has:
* the cheapest rimfire ammo town
* the cheapest spray paint cans in town
* the cheapest car batteries in town
* the cheapest car oil in town
* the absolute best deli meats in town
* the lowest cost for routine groceries in town
* NEED I ADD more?

Seeing fat ladies in spandex really doesn't bother me. The store is 3 minutes from my house. I can go elsewhere and pay more. THAT makes no sense to me.
YES, it all comes from CHINA!

Strictly speaking $50 and $100 dollar bills are legal tender and cannot be refused.
At one large thrift shop I go to the cashiers even mark $10s with a pen-one version says to detect counterfeiting, another says to prevent "shrinkage."
I carry lots of cash and coins, pay exact amount whenever which is much appreciated.

You do know that only 10-11% of US Money is in the form of printed Bills?
Most of it is already Digital.
As I have posted (I do love this story) my biggest cash deal was when the the Real Estate Buyer lady brought $14,000 to closing in a brown paper sack.
Like one you would carry your lunch in.
She arrived carrying it, I left carrying it.
Largest cash Gun Deal? Neighborhood of $10,000.
And it was my Buddy’s money!
The seller and I went to a Pawn Shop, they got most of it.
So was my Buddy upset?
NO! It was a Hell of a Deal, we done Good!

A little birdie once said……….people who think they are wise when they are not, are worse than fools.

I know, right?

People who think they know it all really annoy those of us that actually do[emoji2959]

Tonight was taco night over at the Eagles. It really would have felt like overkill to use a VISA card to pay the $3.25 instead of 3 Golden Dollars and a quarter.

And just because what's left of my mind has a tendency to wander. Our local Mexican restaurant has lowered the price on take out tacos to $1.00/a piece on taco tuesdays. I am one of the faithful, especially for soft corn shells. Always pay cash, usually the exact amount and leave a buck for the tip (the faithful shall be rewarded).

True, but it isn't due to digital. This has been true since the founding of the country. The money supply is multiplied as a normal course of loans/credit.

Say you deposit $1000 in a bank. The bank loans out $900 (keeping some reserve on hand). That person takes the $900, gives it to someone else in trade, who then deposits it. It then gets loaned out again. And so on.

In this way the money supply is multiplied far beyond the actual cash in circulation.

Which is also why the .gov's massive debt and deficit spending leads to inflation.

I pay cash whenever I can because the government doesn't need to know what I buy or from. That infor is only between me and her 'manager'!

Best,
RM Vivas

YES, it all comes from CHINA!

We have a "Made In USA" store in my area. Nice place, nice stuff, but nothing I need or want to buy.

Show me a store that does NOT have 95% made in China.

At least the Federal ammo, meats and milk sold in Walmart are usa.

Here's a challenge for anyone that reads this.....
I need a new toaster. Send me a link to a made in USA toaster.

Don't blame me, blame Richard Nixon.

On top of the cyber attacks, there is massive counterfeiting of cash and precious metals. Fake gold bars are being imported from China, supposedly they are gold plated tungsten.

The real ones are in Senators' coat pockets.
