I have had this revolver many years and am just now getting around to enjoying it. The OEM grips are too small for my big hands and am looking for some larger grips that don't cost a fortune.

I just yesterday changed the magnas that came on my 1947 five inch with target grips I ordered on ebay. Made in Taiwan, look good, feel great, improved my shooting, and cheap! Easy enough to replace originals if needed.

Two things come to mind. A BK grip adapter, which will allow you to use the OEM grips already on the gun. I think I'm going to order one or two myself for a couple of guns I've picked up recently. About $25.00 each.

BK Grips | 2-Clip Grip Adapters for Revolvers

Or I'd pick up a Hogue monogrip if I just want an inexpensive grip. They're just black rubber, but seem to fit most people. Hold onto the OEM ones of course. You can probably find one on ebay or some such place for about the same money. Maybe a little more.

For that gun, I'd go the BK route. You can keep the classic look.

Nice gun by the way. I've got one very much like it myself.

Pahmayrs are mucho functional.

Very much functional...And in my experience, if left on the gun for storage will eventually mark their territory on the upper edges...Over time that mark will always be visible when the gun wears it's originally configured grips again, and in many cases has left permanent rust pitting...They're fine for shooting, as are Hogues, but take them off when you get home from the range...

Just one man's experience...:o...Ben

You have a 5 inch K22 from 1947? We'd sure like to see pictures.

John Culina can make you a fine target, combat or magna grips for that K-22. The BK Grip adaptors work well too; that is what I currently use.

He4re is mine with Culina Targets and with Magna's and BK adaptor.

Culina Walnut- Most are much fancier than these.

Culina Lignum Vitae.

AND - My favorites: Fiddleback Claro Magna grips with BK Adaptor

I put some Pachmyr Presentations on my 17-2 for range purposes. When I bought it it was wearing a set of non-relieved checkered diamond targets that predate the gun by 20 years, been told they are rare and pricy.

Yes, some of us like those non-relieved K targets a lot. My favorite for K22s.

Agreed 100%. In my opinion they are pretty much a rubber version of the S&W Factory Target Stocks.

For a gun with significant recoil (like a 357 mag or 44/45 caliber) the Pachmayrs are WAY better than factory wood Targets IMO.

But for the K22, I'd rather have the pretty factory wood Target Stocks - because recoil really isn't an issue.

JMO and YMMV...
