I had been wanting a .22 revolver just for plinking in the yard so a couple of years ago I bought a Heritage Single action. It was ok but not all that, so I sold it to a friend. Then last year I came across this at my LGS. It was pretty dirty and the action a little stiff, but I haven't seen one for a while so I bought it. $650 plus tax and dros fee. A little pricey but I'm in California so that's how it goes. I cleaned it up and sprayed it out with clp, seems to be working fine now. It had the incorrect grips on it, which I actually needed for an 80s era Model 10 I have, so that worked out ok. I found these Franzite grips here on the forum for pretty cheap. It's got some honest wear but shoots great. The ejection is a little stiff so I will need to address that down the road.

Very nice find. You didn't steal it, but in California it's not a bad price. Any 4 screw should be a good shooter and is old enough to expect it to be well fitted and smooth to operate. You will be bound to enjoy it... a range report is now officially expected.

That's a nice one. I paid about that for a 5 screw from the early 50's not too long ago, so I don't think you paid too much for it, especially going by what I hear of California prices.

I also don't think you overpaid. I've seen K22s in worse shape sell for much more...

It's pretty hard to beat a K22... there's usually one in my range bag on every trip to the range!

Probably early 1957. I show one about 4,000 numbers lower that shipped in December, 1956, and one about 3,000 numbers higher (actually a K-38) that shipped in March, 1957. Always keep in mind that shipments were not in serial order, so there is some wiggle room.

FYI: Most of them seem to have stiff extraction. Mine sure does!

I had wanted a K22 and K38 since I was a kid looking at my dads Shooter's Bible. Around my area they seem to be getting harder to find in good shape and prices continually going up but I finally found them. My K38 came with the exact grips you bought and my 22 came with the correct stocks. The 22 is from 1955 but forgot what year the 38 is from.

I must admit I didn't care for the stags and replaced them with nicer Target grips.

Serial number for list

Hello Jack,
Just came upon this thread and thought I could give you my K22 serial number for your list. I have a 5 screw with number K212224. If you could give me an approximate age I'd appreciate it.
