China has cut off Nitrocellulose and Antimony to the U.S.

We do need to decrease the amount of chinese goods we import. But it's going to cost you and I money to do that. One way or another.

If we find American made alternatives, we're going to pay more for them.

If the government forces the issue through tariffs, we're going to pay more.

Remember that all taxes, fees, tariffs and any other expense laid on companies is ultimately paid by the end user in the form of higher prices for goods and services.

Tried buying a toaster lately? Coffee maker? Or any of a host of other items? Almost impossible to avoid chinese products these days.

Of course when China is paying the POTUS' son millions of $$$ a year, that should come as no surprise.

Those are the first links in a simple search. There were more links but I'm not shipping for those so I'm not looking at all links.
They are not cheap, but you should blame China loving amazon shoppers for that issue.

I've not read all the posts on this but have a theory why China cut us off.

If you follow the news, China, N. Korea and Russia recently have been getting really chummy. Putin is upset because the US is furnishing weapons to Ukraine and has threatened the US if we continue. I wonder if Russia is putting pressure on China to stop selling these components to us knowing we must have them to manufacture the ammunition we're sending to Ukraine. They know our stockpile for our own defense is low as well and we're very vulnerable at this time. We're also at a point where we have no leadership and the country is a cultural and political disaster.

Just my thoughts.

I try to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a large inventory of components. I'm almost 76 and arthritic so I limit my shooting in quantity and potency of loads so I don't need another 50 years of 44 mag components. So I'm only adding components when the price is right. I went to add 1500 projectiles to my 38 cal stockpile today and one of my suppliers had a disclaimer about having to increase prices due to the rising cost of antimony, speak of the devil. Anyway I went to my other supplier and prices were the same as the last time I bought. Actually over the past 5 or 6 years I don't believe they've raised prices. That's refreshing.

Stock up while the prices are where they're at. They aren't cheap like the 60's but the 60's wer outrageous compared to the 30's. Folks, things aren't going to get cheaper and you'll be happy in a year or so that you bought when you did. Just pre pandemic I bought Federal primers for $45/1000 and almost had a nose bleed at the prices but I'm glad I did. I was thinking about the ones I bought just before that at $30 and felt screwed because I'd paid $24 before that and even cheaper before that. You get my point. One day soon, $89/1000 is going to look pretty good so sacrifice a month of beer and stockup if you love shooting.

Just stop buying their junk will hurt them worse.
Nice idea, but practically impossible these days. Think you're buying something that was "made in America?" It is almost certain that many of the components were actually made in China, and only assembled in America. Or maybe the factory equipment that they used to make the item in America, was bought from China.

They have their fingers into EVERYTHING nowadays. It is going to take a lot of time and effort to untangle the Chinese from our economy. I hope it happens, but in the meantime, it is virtually impossible to buy anything that won't contribute some amount of money to the Chinese economy.

Explain how Obama has FOUR mansions on a govt salary? One in Hawaii, one in Chicago, one in Martha's Vineyard (with the mysterious death of the chef) & one in NYC.

I could care less about the 1%. It's the crooked, lying pols I care about, of either party.

It is all in the re-election funds which can be spent in any means possible to further re-election efforts. These funds are never audited, and become managed by the candidate after his term in office.

You could ask how they are managed, and find that the terms are set by the elected parties holding offices.

China is Not our friend ...
We need to divest ourself from dependance on them ...
Being dependent on China for anything is Bad Policy .
They wish to destroy us ...

Makes me wonder, carefully: What if USA had not interfered with Japanese expansion 90 years ago? There would not have been a Pearl Harbor attack, but still a rape of Nanking.

Have to start someplace. It's better than throwing up hands and whining all the time.
True enough. The point, though, is that if you want to avoid doing business with China you have to look much deeper than just whether or not the seller puts a "made in America" label on it.

I have watched the USofA go down this rabbit hole for a long time. I remember getting sideways looks when turning down purchases of non domestic products back in the 70's. Contractors I worked for would get there cheap azz knock-offs smoked in less than a day if I used 'em. And now here we are folks. How many people we know down right enjoyed the cheap goods for decades .. put countless people, their own neighbors out of work while gorging on the junk fed to them over the years.

Yeah yeah .... I know how this works.

Unfortunately, our country is dependent on too many other countries for our vital supplies, and some are not friendly to us and in fact some, like China, are our adversaries.

I know of someone who wants to fix that ASAP. But he needs the help of American Civilians smart enough to allow him to do so. Our Country is on the brink of becoming something we won't recognize as AMERICA, in short order. China is not our friend.

They want to eat us for lunch...........

Get on Top of it NOW

All I know is if America can dismantle the
Baltimore Bridge in several months
America can get going on making
Nitrocellulose.

As for Mining, America can get going on
that too.

America needs to at least do something now.
It will take time, but all can happen fast.

We all know we don't need anything
from from the rest of the World, it's the
bureaucracy we can it put up with.

In all honesty, this really is a blessing in disguise.

China thinks they'll be hurting us by no longer supplying us with these components, but what they're really doing is forcing us to stop being reliant upon them. Granted, with the current and presumably future administration in power, it's unlikely that they'll take the initiative when this furthers their anti-gun agenda, but should the American people prove to be unexpectedly responsible, diligent, and intelligent in regards to who they vote for, then this could be the turning point for our nation if we have a President who cares about strengthening the economy by bringing back domestic production while China stops selling us things.

Personally, I've been preparing for the worst over the past 3 years, and although I'd very much like to be better prepped than I am, I've been doing the best I can. So come what may, I can at least say I'm far better equipped to deal with the possibility of another 4 years under liberal government leadership than the average person.
If nothing else, hopefully after another 4 years of destruction, people will have been shaken awake from the faux-progressive liberal social indoctrination and quit voting for people who only know how to tell lies and gaslight people into believing that the smoking wreckage all around them is the remnants of a worldwide campfire that everyone was singing kumbaya around the night before.

The nitrocellulose thing might not be all that big a deal-but the prices may not reflect that. A lot of the powders we use aren't produced here anyway.

Jack up tarriffs on everything Chinese. .

That MIGHT get some production of things moved back to the USA but the inflation during the process would make life tough around here.
They are certain things from China that MUST be imported and the tariffs would just raise the prices.

Vicious circle.

It only works if what you are looking for is in the ground where you are able to look for it.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, a huge contract was just awarded to rebuild the air base they dropped the atomic bombs from on Tinian. They are also building a new Marine base on Guam. Hold on to your hats gentlemen, WW III is just around the corner. Not sure what we'll fight it with without gun powder materials, but time will tell.

The gun powder part of WW3 is only a short start, most of it will be with nukes.

In talking with family and friends in the past it has been suggested many times that we have too many guns in the US and too many people that would put up the middle finger should any of the idiots in our government try to "come and get em."Some have said ,however, that these same idiots would try to go around confiscation and simply and slowly cut off our ammunition as a past enlightened one started to do when he put a program in place that began to crush military brass instead of reloading or selling it.It seems that China may be looking in that direction and I wouldnt be surprised if some of the dummies whose names are quite well known to many are cheerleading them on in the background.
