Barred Owl lands inside house

That is not a good sign. Some think seeing and hearing an owl is a sign of an impending death.

Only seen one owl in the wild, and that was back in 1960. I'm still here.
Could be a sign of an impending death but not someone you know.

You know, there was a case a few years back where a woman died from a fall in her home, her husband was charged with murder. There was evidence that suggested she had been attacked by an owl in her home.

I remember reading an old Mexican saying "El tecolote canta, y el indio muere. No sera verdad pero asi sucede". The owl hoots and the Indian dies. It can be true but still it happens.

Never had an owl in the house but have several nesting around here. One big one had a nest in an old shed just down the road. I would see him fly out when it started to get dark and he would land on my security light pole. Stayed there until it got good and dark then he would head off hunting. Often get woke up in the morning by a couple softly hooting from nearby trees. No sudden or unexpected deaths for a while so I guess we're okay.

Better?

When I was a kid, there was about a 3 year period where I saw an owl every single day. Usually two at a time. That was 50 years ago and I'm still alive. So, I don't subscribe to the omen of death thing.

By the way, my father was rehabbing 2 Great Horned Owl chicks. After we let them go, they hung around the house for a couple of years and would come visit sometimes.

I've seen hundreds of owls in my life. I'm still here. I do not subscribe to superstitions be they owl or others.

When I was younger a couple of friends and I were fascinated by the local burrowing owl population. We used to drive to their nesting areas at night to observe the owls. I've also seen barn owls, a snowy owl, a couple of barred owls, and one great horned owl.

Many years ago I was archery deer hunting. I climbed into my favorite old oak tree and watched a Great Horned owl land in another big oak about 25 yards from me. I watched him for quite awhile, then thought I would wiggle my foot to see what would happen. He keyed in on the movement in seconds and flew right at my foot, which was still firmly attached to my leg. It didn't take long for me to start yelling and waving my arms around like a lunatic to get him to turn and find easier prey
