I believe your L Frame was made in 1983 and would not have a dash. It would be considered a "no dash". One of the more desirable ones IMO.

My 8 3/8s no dash 586 is ADC and shipped in 1983, so says the mother ship. No M stamp.

Agreed. Probably a “no dash”. Only other question is if it’s had the “M” stamp recall done. I have a no dash 4 inch 586 and it has one of the best triggers of any revolver I have.

In case some new L frame owners are not aware, S&W had a recall because of a higher than normal firing pin bushings falling out. They paid the round trip shipping, put in an updated bushing and stamped the infamous "M" in the yoke area to show the repair modification had been factory done.
I read not too long ago that they are still doing the free repair, but I am not 100% positive of that. A phone call is all it takes to verify and get the details should you want it done.

My home was broken into....the cabinet that it and many other firearms in were stolen in March of 2021. They broke the lock.
