The gun you wish you could carry but,...

I would like to carry my 1851 Colt 2nd gen .36 engraved or my LeMatt's. I carry a 6" STI Perfect 10 in 10mm in a IWB holster.

My Colt 1911 in 38 Super. But, as others have mentioned about full size, all steel 1911's, too big & heavy for comfortable, all day carry.

But today, and for the last three decades my two Glock 40’s, model 23 and 27, handle all my CC, EDC, and HD situations. Only things non stock are the light gathering night sights…

Tangfoglio TZ 75 great trigger, very accurate. However a little too heavy.

I have not tried to carey my M&P 5.7 x 28. It is very thin and light but barrel is long. Shooting is a blast! No recoil, my wife even said it was an easy gun to shoot. The muzzle lift/flip is almost none which makes the second shot very quick and accurate. I picked up a VNSH holster belt. I will see how it works.
Sheeesh! I hate autocorrect! So I have tried carrying the M&P 5.7 with the VNSH and it is very comfortable, even for a fat guy like myself.

I love this gun. A real tack driver but not suitable for edc. Steel frame M&P9 with comp and lg competition red dot. IMG_1638.jpegIMG_1638.jpeg

Is really more suited for HD and Competiton shooting. My new CZ75BD is such a gun. I am really loving the heck out of it for feel and function and, I can really hit what I'm aiming at! Shot it some more this weekend and it is just fantastic! But it does weigh a good bit like a dump truck. 😂 What's your gun you wish you could carry but, stays in the home or sees competition and range time only?

I carried a Government Model, Gold Cup or Commander off duty quite a bit, but wished I could carry a 1911 type on duty also. Never really thought I'd get the chance. But during my last several years in LE, I did get the opportunity, and carried a lightly modified Government Model, or Gold Cup..

Cz Shadow 2. Shoots like a dream, but she’s a chunky monkey to tote.

I would carry my model 14- 6 inch but unfortunately it's hard to hide.So I'm resolved to carry my cobras, detective special,442 and 36s not bad alternatives but they just don't shoot as smooth as the 14.

I'd like to go to the big city with my Springfield Saint 10", but people get nervous when they see it. So I carry a 1911 10mm.

Ever so often I get a hankering to carry my 1911 but I always end up regretting it. I suppose that's why it's rare I carry it.
That's why I bought the CSX 3.6 inch.....it's the closest to the 1911 but in the Goldilocks category....Not to big, not to small...can carry 24/7 with no problems..accurate as all heck and great capacity.

I learned to shoot a handgun from my dad at 14, shooting a S&W Model 19. I learned to shoot a M1911 in the Army. The one that I would much prefer to carry is my Colt Gold Cup National Match. It's too big to carry next to impossible to hide. The carrying is left to either my Kimber Micro 9 or Sig P365X

Well, mighta been Duane Thomas who famously said, "The first rule of gunfighting is, 'Have a gun.'" And he's right of course. On the other hand, Clint Smith says, "None of them are small enough to carry and none of them are big enough to fight with." Now that I'm retired I'm a little more open to compromise, but during my over-long LE career which included a few gunfights I never once wanted a smaller gun, a cheaper gun, or fewer bullets.
The first I heard it was from Mark Moritz in American Handgunner - but what the heck he might have heard it himself.

I attended the FBI Academy in '92 and John Hall gave us his "Rules for a gunfight":

Rule 1 - Have a Gun!
Rule 2 - Be sure it is a BIG gun!
Rule 3 - Bigger is Better and More is More!
Rule 4 - Pretty is not important.

I enjoyed the class he taught, he told us about two bank robbers. One they shot 65 times with 9mm, .223 and 00 Buck - he survived and sued them for excessive use of force (he didn't win his case) ;)

Just Ramblin'

When I was serving as an LEO this is what I carried every day in plain clothes, I did that until I was 70 years old, now I'm retired and 74.5 and have lightened the load a bit but when I go to town it is alway two 1911 style guns (usually Commanders or Combat Commanders).

Sorry for the bad pic I took it before cell phones had cameras .

25-5 Yes, I could carry it in a pancake with a proper cover garment, but most days that's not really practical.

Colt Lawman MK III This one I could carry but won't. It has sentimental value and served its intended purpose of getting me home alive. Now I have equally good or better options that wouldn't be missed as much if they ended up in evidence.
