Did Smith ever make a model 6909?

Check out Summit Gun Broker it seems he has a few for under 400 .

I keep going back and forth on the Summit gun. In a perfect world, I'd pay a little more for a gun in better condition. I'd also like to have adjustable sights.

Hello, I found a rare gem, and called S&W, interesting, it is in fact 6906, but the etching says SD9, this is a gen3 from 1994, built in limited run in Performance Center. Internet research says conflicting info, one guy says only 150 made, another says 179. Makes sense, my SN is sub 50

I assume you are referring to the SD 9mm P (6906 Stocking Dealer model = 4.25 in barrel but 15rd?) S/N SDB0001-SDB0237 Product Code 170053 made 1994 only - this is not a 6909 but guessing you already knew that. Photos of other side please and box end label if you have it.

I think whoever had this pistol before you may have lost its original recoil spring guide rod. In your picture it appears to be wearing a full size, and it is sticking out & proud of the slide.

Here is a picture of how the gun looks with the proper guide rod:

Yes, thanks! I guess I was just super pumped after talking with S&W and when I looked back at notes saw that I did write 6909 😂. I did edit the post

Next call, back to S& W to see if they can find one behind the cobwebs, I’ll keep you posted, thanks!

A gun shop near me (sort of) has two 6906s listed at $399.99. One has 2 magazines, one has three. They also have a 6904 with two mags listed at $349.99. I'd be tempted to buy one as a back up to my existing 6906, but last month I bought a second 3913 as a back up to my first. Which in turn is a back up to my 3913TSW.

I have a serious problem with 3rd generation guns. I don't have enough money to buy all of the ones I'd like to have.

You could have worse "addictions"...

Nice find, I've been looking for a very specific sub 50 s/n to go with my SD356 and SD40. Shoot me a PM if you might be interested in knowing more. 20241104_201113.jpg

They don't by chance have a nice 5906 do they, I'm getting the itch for one.
Classic Firearms also got some 5906's in ... $10 cheaper than J&G Sales' cheapest

Hopefully Joe has gotten that itch scratched in these past 11 years :)
