walmart stabbings

So, this Governor in Michican....when is she going to talk about this good guy with a gun, stopping the mayhem...? How about the ones that did not get stabbed after the first relay...?
I don’t expect Whitmer to acknowledge those Marines it doesn’t fit her agenda

I agree that the Marine showed great restraint and was able to gain compliance from the stabber. Here's the however, de-escalation only works if the stabber decides he doesn't want to be shot.
In that situation, in a blue state, the gun handler has to realize when the trigger is pulled the shooter will be drug through personal hell with the possibility of financial ruin. Regardless of the what has transpired.

Pot calling the kettle black
My be true, but I know lots of vets that carry. And most of them would not hesitate, it is a mindset thing. This vet and former cop would have stopped that pretty quick. The only worry would be what or who was behind the guy. Even then, I would not hesitate to shoot some fool like that in the foot, if needed to stop his attacks. And that is exactly what I taught in my CCW classes.

The Pelosi anti gun mindset is interesting, more so since some freak beat her husband in the head with a hammer, at their home.

The dreaded mainstream evening news gave praise to guy that used a shopping cart to ram the bad guy. Even interviewed him and his brother. Didn’t mention the armed citizen…
Maybe the gun handler refused to be on camera or interviewed. Nothing good would come of that for him.

Given the situation that marine found himself in, showing great restraint while brandishing his gun (Walmart stabbing) . . .
If I was that marine, in the very same situation, I would also restrain myself because the “self-defense” laws in my state would not allow me to pull the trigger UNLESS the perp threatened me DIRECTLY!
As he was stabbing OTHER people and not ME . . .I couldn’t shoot!
That is not brandishing, learn the term. It is deploying a firearm in defense of under at risk of great bodily harm or death.

And you are correct, you cannot pull the trigger unless you believe he is going to do additional harm to others or to yourself. But brandishing does not apply to violence in progress.

The findings so far have shown he bought it with no paperwork from a friend. I believe this may have been illegal because I think California requires all sales to go through an F.F.L. dealer. Correct me if I am wrong on this.
That friend will be going to jail.

Anyone surprised that a good guy with a gun stopped the scum that was stabbing people at the walmart and not a word about it on mainstream news?
What I'm surprised about is that it is in the news.
Also, that the LEOs in Traverse City, Michigan did not arrest the Good Guy With A Gun yet!
I have read of stories similar to this one where the legally armed Good Guy is arrested, loses his licenses, is charged with a crime, and is cancelled from society.

CNN described the perp at the recent shootings at NY NFL headquarters as a "White Man" I don't know what he is, but he sure isn't a white man. People wonder why only 31% of Americans trust the media? It is the reason why so many millions of folks remain "Blissfully ignorant".
1/2 black
1/2 Asian
That was on the news that I heard.

We have shopped there for decades at many different locations and have never been involved in nor witnessed a violent altercation.

Random violence rarely bothers to read a map or store signage.
Although I may agree that violence doesn’t carry a map, if it did, a Walmart in Compton, CA would have a bright red star on it! Compton, CA is a lot different than most of Ohio. I shop some Walmarts as well, but I pick and choose them based on past experience, surrounding areas, etc. I’m not going looking for trouble.

I read the story on Fox News, don't know if it is on any of the other mainstream media outlets. I hope the armed Marine does not get charged with something like brandishing, he was very justified in his actions, but it did occur in Michiganistan, soooooo...
Actually the first article I read on the former Marine stepping up was, I believe, on Fox and described it as “brandishing.” Coincidentally this morning, was reading an article featuring Massad Ayoob using the term “justified gunpoint.” The press is still not at all friendly, at least below the superficial surface.

In today's hostile legal environment, using a firearm in defense of yourself and family is risky enough. In defense of strangers? Let's hope I never have to make that call, because I'm not likely to risk my life and freedom. Let the politicians and bureaucrats who created that hostile environment come to their aid.
Depends on the jurisdiction; and the totality of the circumstances.
