In the video I saw the guy with the gun looked like a black man with dreads. The Marine gave an interview and said he hit him with a shopping cart.
I’m a little disappointed in that of all the several adult male good guys on hand, only one seemingly had a gun.I read about that...
11 people were stabbed near the checkout area at the Traverse City Walmart (northern Michigan). One Marine chased him, a second Marine pulled his gun and the two held the attacker until police arrived.
A Witness reportedly said the guy with the gun showed remarkable restraint. "Everyone else there would have pulled the trigger!"
Thank God for US Marines!![]()
I am too but I’m not surprised.I’m a little disappointed in that of all the several adult male good guys on hand, only one seemingly had a gun.
We have shopped there for decades at many different locations and have never been involved in nor witnessed a violent altercation.Walmart is always good for trouble.
In today's hostile legal environment, using a firearm in defense of yourself and family is risky enough. In defense of strangers? Let's hope I never have to make that call, because I'm not likely to risk my life and freedom. Let the politicians and bureaucrats who created that hostile environment come to their aid.I read a lot of posts where people said that they carry only to protect themselves or their family.
I think any place that had large numbers of people in close proximity would have suited his purposes. Could have been a baseball game, a bar or the zoo. Happened to be Walmart. Since at least 2 former marines were there, one of them at least armed with a firearm, I'm happy it was there and not, say, a bridal shop having a blowout sale.We have shopped there for decades at many different locations and have never been involved in nor witnessed a violent altercation.
Random violence rarely bothers to read a map or store signage.
But the probability is higher at a Walmart in an urban area than in a Walmart in a rural area.We have shopped there for decades at many different locations and have never been involved in nor witnessed a violent altercation.

If the stabber wanted to be shot, he missed his opportunity. The good guy did well for us.I agree that the Marine showed great restraint and was able to gain compliance from the stabber. Here's the however, de-escalation only works if the stabber decides he doesn't want to be shot.
+1. One of my recurring nightmares from the job also produced one of my best memories: an adult son thanking me for not shooting his drunk, sledgehammer wielding father and adding " you had every right to".If the stabber wanted to be shot, he missed his opportunity. The good guy did well for us.
The findings so far have shown he bought it with no paperwork from a friend. I believe this may have been illegal because I think California requires all sales to go through an F.F.L. dealer. Correct me if I am wrong on this. The point is that the media (CNN) wants to place blame on the wrong folks. So in that context, color does matter. You and I will never know his reasoning, it is whatever the media chooses it to be. I found it telling that he walked in, shot a couple of people and then just ended it there. I'd bet that he did have a background check either in Calif or Nev and passed without a problem.
Pot calling the kettle blackYes, as a retired military guy, 23 years 9 months, I remember Nancy Pelosi, saying, all veterans are a little bit nuts......speaking about gun control...
I would also restrain myself because the “self-defense” laws in my state would not allow me to pull the trigger UNLESS the perp threatened me DIRECTLY!
As he was stabbing OTHER people and not ME . . .I couldn’t shoot!
Personally, as a man, and self-described southern gentleman, I believe that a little toxicity is a redeeming quality, and a useful social skill.Men acting like men, going In Harm's Way to protect and rescue others-isn't that "toxic masculinity" ?
