If you could only have 6 firearms

Yes, what is magic about the number six?

Three would definitely be:
a good .22 semiauto pistol - probably Ruger
a good .22 semiauto rifle - no specific brand
a good 12 gauge pump gun with choke tubes - probably a Remington 870
Those three would meet at least 90% of anyone's gun needs for most all purposes

The other three would depend on specific circumstances as to where I might be. Could include a larger caliber revolver (minimum .38 Special) or semiautomatic pistol (minimum 9mm), a larger caliber (.308/.30-'06/.270) scoped bolt action rifle, and a more compact smaller caliber CF semiauto or lever action rifle - preferably a .30 M1 carbine. Brands would be unimportant.

In a least one European country, you are limited to 3: 1 handgun, 1 rifle, 1 shotgun. This is double that.

2 handguns: Les Bear 1911 45 & S&W 49 (38 Special
2 shotguns; Browning 725 Sporting 12 gauge & Remington 870 12 gauge 12
2 rifles: T/C Encore (All Barrels) & Anschutz sporting 22

I think this thread is harder than a 2 gun thread!

My

#1. Custom round butt 4" 686-nuttin ( best all around utility/duty/general purpose .357/.38 going IMHO)

#3. Wilson Combat Beretta 92 Centurion Tactical. (SHTF handgun)
#4. CZ 452FS/mannlicher in .22 magnum. ( could go with a new 455FS and get barrels in .22lr,.22mag and .17hmr)
#5. An AR; in 5.56......... can I get multiple uppers???...... 10/20 and 30 rd magazines.

#6. Torn between a Model 18 or a 3 " 66....... probably have to give the nod to ..............................

Wait wait.... my Performance Center SD-9.. can't not have a Browning HP or a Sig 220 .45............my Ruger 77/357 is a handy little gun so is a Ruger 10/22 International/mannlicher ........

It's clear....... sorry "6" is just not an acceptable number...... "6" may represent a good start.................. always liked the sound or ""Four Score and seven"

Two revolvers
Two semiautos
Two rifles

One of each of the above would be a .22LR.

Well, I only own 7 in total...so...not difficult for me to imagine the scenario.

Two S&W revolvers...J and L frame.

Three 9mm Glocks in sub-compact, compact and full size.

One M&P15 TS for a battle rifle

One Remington 870 for shotgun

Pretty much covers all the food groups (for me) and essentially mimics the firearms I used on the job prior to retiring.

1) COLT .45 automatic 1911 (for concealed carry, home defense, or anything in between).
2) S&W 686P, 4" barrel. (full power 357 magnum that can do it all)
3) Beretta M9 (wonder-nine with lots of capacity; 20 round magazines)
4) S&W 649 .357 magnum (small concealed revolver for edc or when a larger handgun cannot be worn)
5) Browning A5 (shotgun for home and hearth)
6) M1 Garand (battle rifle)

Interesting question. I just looked in the safe and got really depressed, which one's do I eliminate? Only 6? I would say any good .22 rifle, 12 ga. shotgun, 30-06 rifle, 45acp, 357 mag, 40 s&w. Throw in a loading press and dies and I'm good to go.

An accurate 22 rifle
a quality 22 pistol or revolver
a J frame 357 revolver
a 12 gauge pump with both a short rifle sight barrel and a 26-28 inch vent rib barrel
an accurate 308 or 30/06 repeater with a good scope
a 4" S&W or Colt 357.

If you were in big bear country lose the last two and substitute a 338 rifle and a 44 (or larger) mag revolver.

All stainless if you live in or near a rain forest, swamp or ocean.

Well, as I keep adding firearms to my collection, I wonder when enough is enough and can I justify another purchase. I think about how with the sport of fishing, 5 or 6 rods and reels can be enough to fish any scenario. But with firearms, you have to have quit a collection to have one for every scenario.

Glock 27 (with 357 Sig and 9mm barrels)
S & W 300 Win Mag
Mossberg 835 Shotgun
Mossberg 22 rifle
Colt SAA in 45 Colt
OM Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt

CC
Shield9
LCP

Hunting
Browning BSS
H&R ultra slughunter
Ruger Blackhawk.45 convertible

Fun gun
Browning BDA .380acp

Good 12 gauge pump, 30-30 lever action, AR15.
Good .22 semi-auto handgun and rifle(maybe Henry AR7 for portability), and a good 9mm SA/DA.
Too small a list, but this oughta take cafe of most needs. Defense, food supply large game and small, and half-decent security.
Hopefully, scopes for long guns. But iron sights for sure. Learned on 'em, depend on 'em. Scopes will just stretch distance options better.

If you could only have 6. What's wrong with having only 6? That's what I have
M&P 2.0 9mm
M&P 9c
Sar B6P
Beretta 92s
M&P 15 Sport 2
Ruger 10/22
