Calling All Car Folks

As I get older, and I know I'm past a midlife crisis, I keep thinking about how nice it would be to have a "fun and exciting" car. I'm a "big boned" guy, so I can't fit comfortably in all cars. I've just started looking around. I have been a Ford guy for all of my adult life, and like the looks of the Mustang. I saw a 2023 Mach 1 the other day, and started drooling. It looked awesome and sounded even better. Get me some pros and cons…….of course pictures are always welcome.

Craig, from our lunch group has one, actually his second. He had one with a manual but had to trade it it for an auto due to a service connected disability.

I rode in the last one, not the new one yet.
Same color, Oxford White.
Gets up and goes, sounds and looks amazing.

He loves the car, so do I.

Madmikeb will be by shortly.

Rent one and find out.

Have fun.

EDIT: I can't comfortably fit in a pony car. Can barely get in and out without busting my head.

So....I bought a new F-150 regular cab, short bed (RCSB) with the Coyote V8. Had a custom dual exhaust fabricated. We're talking about a 4300 pound vehicle with about 400 horsepower and I can even wear my cowboy hat.

Ladder13 is right, here I am!

I have rented Mustang convertibles every year since 2004 for Arizona vacations, and have to say that Ford hit the jackpot with the 2015 and up models. They are the first ones with independent rear suspension and drive like they're on rails.

I've got a 2017 Ecoboost premium and love the car! When I first read that Ford was putting a 4-cyl in Mustangs my thoughts were really, seriously. Then I rented and drove one and it changed my way of thinking. At my age I don't need to go fast I just like to cruise but the Ecoboost does have some get up and go. Granted it's not V-8 horsepower and torque but it's all I need.

I have added a Ford performance Sport cat back exhaust, a Mishimoto intercooler and charge pipes, and Airaid intake pipe and an oil separator. All this improved my performance, gained me about 2-3 mpg, if I keep my foot out of it I can get 30+ mpg which is good for me with gas prices these days. I do make sure I find 93 octane fuel as that's what the car needs to make the horsepower it's rated for.

I'm 6' 200 lbs and it's very comfortable, plenty of leg room, just don't try to get into the back seat!

As WardenRoss says rent one a give it a try, that's what convinced me! That and I always wanted a convertible.

I can't think of any cons. If I had the extra garage space, I'd love to have this parked in it. I'd want a manual transmission.

I think Ford knocked it out of the park with the newer generation Mustangs.

My buddy got a Mustang GT a couple years ago, the little 460 HP. I drove it when it was two days old. Wow! He's talking about getting a supercharger on it, only a little under 6 grand for that, until he recently jumped on it going about 25MPH...he almost lost it!! No supercharger in the future now! Beautiful dark blue.

Since everything is metric these days,,

I am 2 meters tall,, and 105 kilograms.
Probably too large for the Mustang.

This is my "Mustang",, I fit JUST RIGHT!!

Other than when I pick up the four grandchildren after school,,
I am the only one that rides it,,

One time I even hauled a case of Diet Coke in the bed,,, :D
but that is all that has ever been hauled,,

It would be great if ford brought back the Torino with a optional Godzilla engine. But I know it would be a EV

A common theme of the latest Camaros and Mustangs is that their interior designs leave me cold. It likely doesn't help that everyone is going to digital gauges that just look wrong to me.

I spent a while mulling over my next and maybe last major vehicle purchase.

I wanted the Mustang. Was anxious about it.

Sat down and reasoned my thoughts and desires.

I have been a Ford truck owner for over 40 years for a reason.

And, the reason is momma's got a nice car and it's a single purpose vehicle. Hauling people.

I still need a vehicle for transporting more than people.

So, again, the Ford truck.

But, this time it was chosen for many reasons.

Simple in looks. Fine. I am good with that.

Four wheel drive with all the drive options.

Eco boost engine/twin turbo.

Plenty of 'snap' action when you need it.

Even with the 450 hp motor it will get 23-24 mpg on the long roads I travel.

And, that beats the hell out of my '83 F250 with the 460 cid and four barrel carb.

Anyway, I am seriously satisfied with my purchase.

For the most part, "you can't touch this". Ha.

enjoy,

bdGreen

If I had more garage space I would buy that Mustang.:D

Craigs last ride. Identical to the 2023 except transmission.

Very Cool everyone! I have a question about this picture, and I am glad that you shared it. I was wondering about the 2 round spots showing in the grill. I know I've seen pictures of vintage Mustang Mach 1's with lights in those spaces. So, I'm kinda surprised that I haven't seen pictures of the new one with lights there, and that it isn't an option. Am I thinking incorrectly?

ladder13, did you take advantage of the event offered in the second picture? If you did, how was it?

Keep the responses and pictures coming!

If they put lights in them like the old Mach 1's I think it would look odd since the new headlights aren't round. Would have looked a lot better without the round things in the grill.

What I found out from Google.

"If you look closely at the new Mach 1, you will see that the two circles in the grille are actually filled in with black plastic. In the press photos for the car, Ford has shown the new car next to the original Mach 1, which features two lights integrated into the grille. We assume those slots were left blank on the new car in order to save weight but if you prefer to have four headlights, Ford has included a solution from the factory.

"You can 'pop out' the round parts of the grille and do your own lighting customization," Ford spokesperson Mike Levin told CarBuzz. We bet it will only be a matter of time until aftermarket companies start selling specially designed lighting kits for the Mach 1."

on my 2013 Boss 302, the blank round things are removable for cooling.. and large people fit in Mustangs... President of our local club is 6'-6" 325... the new Mach 1's are incredible cars... and I agree with Rusty.. Grabber blue...
