My model 16 ND was shipped 03/29.2025 and arrived in ATL 4 days ago. It is supposedly "moving through the system". I messaged USPS yesterday through their Feedback to let them know this is unacceptable. I am beginning to believe the gun has been stolen by a USPS employee. So far I have not heard back from the post office. This distribution center has been under scrutiny lately, so much so that out illustrious US Senator Osoff (sp?) paid them a visit and declarer things will be better. I guess my next move will be to find out how much insurance the auction house put on the gun and file a claim. I've never done that before so there will be a learning curve on my part. 12 days and counting for my lost in space revolver. If it has been stolen I hope they catch the perp and lock him up. If it is finally delivered, some one in the management level of this center should be fired.

W4, did you get dinged for being too political? Had I mentioned a senator, I guarantee I would have. I digress.

The once great postal service has gone the way of S&W quality control. Yesterday, my mail didn’t even come.
It took 12 days to get a postal package from Vegas to Southern Indiana. If I UPS a package from here to Vegas on Monday, it’ll usually be there Thursday, Friday, 4 days later, at the latest. I got an AR-10 barrel from Kreiger last week, via UPS; 2 days later, 10:30 am at my front door! Excellent!

You will get your package sooner or later.

It doesn’t usually do any good, but I always insist/willingly pay more for UPS.

I never send any handgun via USPS unless it is sent using Registered Mail. Was it sent via Registered Mail? That is the ONLY safe way to send valuables via USPS.

Handguns are supposed to be sent 2day priority with tracking and an adult signature required when using USPS..,. I will always stick up for USPS. Everyone shops from home now. Volume is at all time high. Mistakes will happen. It’s not just USPS. I ordered something from EBay and FedEx said it was delivered yesterday at 2pm. It was not.

My wife mailed a birthday card to her Aunt from Virginia to Oklahoma. After three weeks it wasn't there yet. She contacted the Post office and they said they would look into it. Been 7 months and still not delivered. Nothing better than USPS.

I had a Browning target rifle shipped from a reseller in Kentucky. It spent around 2 weeks at the post office in some sort of container. The reseller made several trips to the post office where we knew it was and raised heck. It eventually arrived here. All total, it took about 3 weeks. It was a smoking deal and I wanted the rifle, not my money back.

I bought two items from Midway. One I paid extra for UPS, the other went USPS free. Since I ordered close to the weekend UPS shipping doesn't seem to travel over the weekend, USPS does. Both packages where delivered the same day. As a rule UPS, Fedex and USPS all seem to work pretty well to my house

4 days? That's nothing. I've had packages sit at the Memphis distribution center for weeks. And don't be surprised if it suddenly takes off for a different city.
I once had a package take the grand tour through 4 states, seven cities and finally show up in my mail box after 32 days while tracking showed it in Atlanta.

I used to defend the USPS but after an item sent to me in MO from NE took 2 weeks and spent 4 days in Boston I've decided to go with UPS as much as possible. Last week I spent $1.00 more for UPS and got the item on the second day from Atlanta.

Here is my package story - Not a firearm, just an old pocketknife I bought. Still waiting for delivery

went to the P.O. Feb 28.
Notice it has been to Chicago three times and Fox Valley Dist center three times and they just don't seem to be able to get it the last 10 miles from Fox Valley to my local P.O.

First time it was at Fox valley it ended up in St Louis where it was lost for so long that the sender refunded me and filed a claim. After the claim they seemed to actually make a search and it started moving again only to go astray in Fox Valley each time it goes there.

I have talked to the seller and if it ever arrives I'll re-send the payment.

The ongoing journey

Relax, it will arrive. I've got numerous examples of delayed USPS packages and overnight mail being delayed, but in each case, they have all arrived.
Several years ago, one gun made it to a western state via a month-long adventure that took it to Quam at one point.
You can drive yourself batty worrying and it won't change a thing. Also, it has to be missing for over 30 days to make a claim.

I love how everybody holds up the other "common carriers" as shining examples of how to do things. One frustrated FFL in the Vegas valley told me he was training his dogs to attack anybody dressed in brown overalls. His grounds were that they must be trespassers, because UPS certainly couldn't deliver anything.:p

A former relative by marriage shipped a gun and ammo (not the best plan) to herself from CO to NV using DHL. For reasons unknown, the package ended up in San Bernardino CA and the package split spilling some ammo. Hilarity followed, which I, as the responsible adult in the county, had to fix. One CA FFL fee, one NV FFL fee, some extortionate shipping cost, and a bit of cash later I owned the gun, but what a faff it was. Most helpful people in the whole debacle? San Bernardino Sheriffs Office.

I worked at ups for 42.5 years. I never once saw a pair of brown overalls.

And for morons with big mean dogs, they can/will come to the center and pick up their stuff.
I never understood why home owners/residences wanted a big mean dogs. What are they compensating for?

Only an FFL can ship a handgunthru the PO and it doesn’t have to be 2 day or priority, it does need an adult signature
