    629-6 Info Please

Your sight, an orange fiber optic version, is pinned in place. My 4" & 6" 629-6's, which I bought new, are keepers. They are partially-lugged and likely point more easily/naturally than your 6.5" full lugged model, whose muzzle will not rise as much when launching real .44 Magnums as the...

    Should I trust SW60Pro?

First - fasteners will work loose in a revolver, unless a thread lock, like blue Loctite is used. Second - the 'premium' charged for a 60 Pro is a MSRP of $799 - that is $80.00 more than the least expensive 60, a 2.1" barrel, fixed sight, and rubber gripped version vs the 60 Pro's custom 3"...

    Has the Governor been "impeached?"

I was an early poster re the then new Governor. I bought mine because it could share the >250 loaded moonclips of homebrew 230gr FMJ .45 ACP ammo, which otherwise only fit my 625JM. The Governor was ~1" longer and a bit less costly than the then soon to be canned 325NG. It was bought as a...

8 shot revolver differences and considerations

The Remington R38S12, a .38 Spcl +P 158gr LHPSWC, contains a soft lead HP bullet which will open reliably when launched from a short barrel .38, like a 642 - or the 2 5/8" PC627 UDR. One round is good enough for my defensive needs. Of course, although once popular, in fact, once known as the...

Just turned 68...starting to consider selling the guns...

I turned 67 last month, after I thinned my herd of one evil-bottom-feeding/rude-case-tossing handgun. My wife had to have it - but hated it. I detested it, but got most of what I had to pay for it from a dealer at a gunshow. Still - the second thoughts - the angst - I hate to think how I'd feel...

    64-8: good price?

Seven years ago, I bought a never-issued, ANIB, security guard trade-in 4" 64-8 for $315 otd locally and I felt I got a deal. It was the current model for years and had such evil parts as MIM hammer & trigger, IL, and even a two-piece barrel. If you believe some folks, it's a wonder it even...

    .22 Smith

I love my 4" x10 617 - it was my favorite plinker. Next, I bought a late friend's LNIB 5" x8 63 from his estate. I had shot 16 of the 24 rounds thru it since he had bought it new, anyway. Then, I bought the first 3" 63 I saw... and it became my favorite plinker. Next was the top of my bucket...

8 shot revolver differences and considerations

I had a nice 5" JM PC627 when the 4" regular 627 and Pro models were released. I liked the moonclip capability of the 4" 627 Pro, the regular 4" 627 wasn't moonclip-ready (Neither was the later 327NG!), so I bought the first one I found. Several years later, the Blood Work gun - the 2 5/8" PC627...

    Wife's New Airweight & Rattlesnake

I've heard that their taste is somewhere between spotted owl and condor. Florida has a serious python problem... Governor time! Stainz

    So Who's a 5" Barrel Fan?

My 5"-ers have partial lugs. First up, my 63-4 x8 .22 LR with a 60 Pro grip and green HiViz sight (Forgive the overhang!): Next up, my only 686+ - a "2004 Stocking Dealer Exclusive" - 686-6 - which came as you see it: Stainz

    BEST Concealed Carry Revolver

Some years back, I had Robert Mika make me a pocket carry holster for my 296, which had been carried, albeit infrequently, in a belt mounted OWB holster. Even though I didn't own a 642 at that time, I had him make a similar holster for that sized J-frame. I had to put the boot grips back on the...

State Rep. Carolyn Maloney Reintroduces "Firearm Risk Protection Act"

"ObamaCare for Gun Owners" (HR2546) Where did this come from? According to Chris Cox, this bill would give the Feds a laundry list of your firearms and require you to purchase Federal liability insurance or face a $10k fine - I assume per firearm. Anyone know more about it?

Might be the most perfect warning sign ever...

To me, the most perfect 'warning sign' is the one on pg 19 of "S&W Safety and Instruction Manual Revolvers - Modern Style-" (Rev:Rev101904). It's in red bold type: WARNING: THE REVOLVER WILL FIRE IF THE TRIGGER IS PULLED!
