Model 617, My story(Update-Happy ending)

Picked up pistol #2 after work. This one is certainly a NIB pistol. Finish on the sights good, no buggered-up screws, no excessive carbon build.

The gun came from RSR distributors. They did alright by me. Replacement with no questions ask. very satisfied.

Now it's time to go shoot after a good cleaning. I have to say, after being used to the double action on my H&R model 999, the Smith trigger is like butter. and no staging. I'm sure it will get better as time goes buy. Now to get my Rosewood grips for this...
My 617-6 is less than a year old and it has become a strong contender for being my favorite firearm that I own. I try to go to the range at least once a week and it has never not gone with me since I got it.

I put a couple hundred rounds through it or more weekly. It has taught me how to shoot double action, and I very rarely shoot single action anymore. I am so much better shooting double action with my 357 Magnums now.

You Sir...(Protocall_Design)Have excellent attention to detail. While cleaning it up last night I noticed the front portion of the rear sight looked high, and sure enough, when I went for the screw, it was loose.

Here is the happy couple.

Seems like there are a lot of 617 stories in the Naked City. Glad the op’s had a happy ending, hopefully mine will too. They are a classy little .22.

That one looks like a gun that had been used in a season of competition, with that wear and very little if any effort cleaning. With the buggered screws I would be concerned about what had been done inside. If I was paying for a new gun this gun wasn't it.
