I have very small hands, and I want to shoot my 640-1 with the grip that allows me to get the trigger off my finger tip. Neither thinness nor shortest distance from trigger to back strap is my complete answer.

Perhaps circumference/perimeter of grip at height of centerline of trigger's curvature is where "smallness" is the answer I need. Among the currently made Crimson Trace "J" Frame Laser Grips which is smallest?

If there is a discontinued Laser Grip that is yet smaller at this area, please identify it.

My hands are small too and I use the CT LG-405 on my 442. I get a very good grip on the gun, no problems with being too thick. Also, the LG 405 is a little shorter which helps with drawing the 442 from my front pocket.

LG 405 is the smallest and they work great.

My Factory Logo CT Laser Grips

I use S&W Factory Logo CT boot style grips on my personal custom carry M&P 340. They feel good in the hand, help control recoil, and are small enough to be carried in a front pocket holster. They should work well for you. You can call S&W Customer Service to order them

I wear a size 6.5 surgical glove, and use both the CT LG-405 and LG-105 laser grips on my J-frames. I think Cal44 is correct, the LG-105 is the smallest, and thinnest of the CT laser grips. I think the LG-105s are no longer in production by CT, but I could be wrong.

Regards,

Dave

The CT LG-105 is the smallest I know of. It's about the size of a Uncle Mike's boot grip.

It has an exposed back strap and exposed grip frame bottom. It's also pretty slim.

And, it cost less than the others mentioned:

I have two stocking dealers in Missoula, the nearest city. Crimson Trace shows the LG-105 to be out of stock. Is this sight routinely maintained in stocking dealers' inventories? Is this item still in production?

I don't know if it's still in production, but there are a ton of vendors selling the LG-105 on ebay.

You can even get one in pink. :)

I have the 405's on my M&P340. I am in the Bitterroots if you want to check it out and see if that works for you before you buy. I added an APEX kit and it helped with the trigger pull.

Model 39, sweet 340. What all did you do to it?

You need to try them both.

I have tried them both. The 305 cants more rearward, encouraging a grip higher on the revolver, and is longer (giving a rest/grip for your pinky); the 405 is more downward, encouraging a lower grip, no pinky rest/grip. I found the 305 more comfortable and better at attenuating recoil; the 405 felt like it didn't give enough grip and felt like it was trying to flip out of my hand. But I have medium-sized hands. YMMV. Probably will. The 405 is more popular, but probably because it is slightly more concealable. Either way, they aren't cheap; try before you buy.

I had Marc do a complete action job, using new interior parts/springs, had the black stainless cylinder bright polished, along with a bright stainless thumb piece for a unique "pinto" look. Marc also adjusted the front sight height to point of aim at 15 yards, and finally Marc cut the cylinder for full moon clips. I could not be more happier with the way it turned out. The double action is smooth, and the cylinder being cut for full moon clips makes reloading and loading very easy. The light weight of the gun makes this my perfect everyday carry gun.

The 105's being the absolute smallest will also do nothing to tame any felt recoil. I now have all three, and I seriously doubt you will notice a large difference stepping up to the 405's with a backstrap air pocket to help diminish felt recoil. MANY stocking gun stores will have a display with the 305 and 405's on a blue gun display for you to try out. if the 405's will work, I would strongly recommend going in that direction. My holstered 11.4 oz 340pd goes unnoticed in my front pocket by me or the public.

I just replaced my grip set with an S&W logo [Uncle Mike's??] boot grip. I never would have believed it if I hadn't tried them.

No trigger-associated hand pain.

Complete control of trigger and trigger action.

If there is a Crimson Trace Lasergrip the same size, that would be as close to perfection as I'm liable to get.

Unbelievable!

And then, of course, my minor foul-up. I removed the grips to clean the revolver. . . . As most have anticipated, the grip screw went to the floor, probably somewhere under my stove. I just wasted the last 45 minutes searching my kitchen and beneath my stove for the screw.

Until I firm up a Lasergrip purchase, anyone who has the grip screw, please let me know the price shipped you want.

Love my 105. Small, intuitive to use, great reliability and it's the most inexpensive. Love it.

The LG-405 is apparently not being made by Crimosn Trace

They must have discontinued these grips. Every time I try to get them from the factory, it says to "notify me when available." I am 75 and can't wait forever for them to decide whether to make these or not. There are a lot of J-frames besides mine. They are missing a market.

So I thought that I'd posted where I got this, but I don't see my post?
Anyway, they do float out there in the wild and show up every so so. I've managed to find about 3 in the past year and a half.

I ordered one as an extra for my 638, and it showed up today.

I open the box, and the manufacture date appears to say February 2025!

I guess this means they aren't vaporware, unless my eyes deceive me?

Well, it looks like this one is now destined for the 432UC-Ti I'm trying to find!
