Can anyone tell me the procedure for removing the cylinder from a pre-war heavy duty. Thanks in advance.

Heavy Duty

It is really a simple task to remove the cylinder. First, take out the frame screw located just above the trigger guard, this is done with the cylinder locked in place, it usual position. This is the only screw that you will need to remove. Open the crane, as you do in loading. Pull out the yoke/cylinder assembly. Note: there is a small spring loaded pin that has a tendency to shoot past your ear when you take out the assembly. Some would suggest doing it in a plastic bag. Not a bad idea if this is your first time. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Thank you Delta. I removed the cylinder yesterday without any difficulty. I didn't have to worry about losing the plunger and spring because they're missing!

Is this the spring loaded pin you are talking about? This one happens to be on my 1899 M&P 1st Model.
