    S&W 6906

You just can't beat the 3rd gens. Love my 6906. It will be in the bag when I go shooting today:cool:

    USA AMMO

Totally unacceptable--especially the blowing up guns part:o This really sucks as I have both used and reccomended them in the past. Too many other choices out there to waste time with these hacks.

    S&W 4006

Very nice. I looked at one of these over the weekend. I tried to make a deal but the GS owner wouldn't budge. There will be one in my future.

    My new (trade in) 6906

Congrats! I think you will really enjoy your 6906. I liked mine so much that I acquired its blued brother(6904) when one showed up at a local gun store. Sorry to hear about your wife losing her job. Hope her job hunting efforts are fruitful.

    I really hate Gen 3's

If that deal were any better you'd have to hire a defense attorney:D Enjoy the heck outta that beauty!

    5906 Market Value

I think you will be hard pressed to find a better value on a 5906 than the CDNN police trade ins right now. CDNN has a great reputation. The one I received from them was in very good condition and looked to be fired very little. Even after shipping and ATF transfer fee, it was still under $350...

The end of the Steel Pistol?

S&W may have all but pulled the plug on steel/alloy frames but many of their competitors have not. Beretta, CZ and Sig are the first ones that come to my mind. I really love my 3rd gens and prefer to buy them because they are such a bargain right now. However, if they become too pricey in the...

boy I miss my 3rd gen Smiths!

A lot of us have had to do similar things as well. It's easy to think to yourself, "I would never part with my guns." But like you put it, life can definately get in the way. Here's hoping to better days ahead and the reacquisition of some old friends once you make some financial progress.

    5906 At Gander Mt.

Congrats! You did very well. I've only had my 5906 for about 2 months and I couldn't be happier with it. Nodding my head in agreement regarding all the posts deriding GM's delsuional gun pricing:eek:. Thank heavens that there are other options in my neck of the woods.

    Model 10 question

:cool:Thanks Tracer. Those figures seem pretty much in line with what I paid for them. I have a feeling that there will be more 10's in my future.

    Another 6906 from CDNN

Looks like you got a winner too. Very happy with my CDNN Smiths.

    Model 10 question

Nickel it is. I've got SS on the brain from the 3rd gen semis I've been enamored with lately. Here are the S#: 10 no dash: C4840XX 10-8: AYV56XX

    Model 10 question

I recently acquired the blued model 10-8. From what I gather reading here it was probably made in the late 70's early 80's. The stainless one is my first S&W and I've had it about 3 years. When I swing open the cylinder on the stainless one, it just shows "mod-10" with no dashes. Does this mean...

    Pawn Shop Buy

Very pretty! looks like it has been in a time capsule. The 4" are my favorite. They just balance so nicely.

    Old school pre 39

Good info here. Being relatively new to S&W autos, I'm really enjoying learning about the various incarnations. You here a lot about the 3rd gens but it seems that the foundation was expertly laid well before the 4 digits came to be.

    CS40's New Home

Looks pristine:) I've never handled a CS in person but they would appear to be ideal for carry.

    Old school pre 39

Are these among the first S&W semis? Stunning beauty you have there!

    Thoughts on 3rd Generation Autos

Absolutely agree. Simple, solid and satisfying to shoot. The fact that they are relatively cheap right now makes them that much more appealing. While I can appreciate the virtues of modern polymers, I find myself drawn to the "burden" of old fashioned metal and alloy.

    Sigma or 659

If I read your post correctly, the gun has not even had 100 rounds through it. Unless you plan on dramatically increasing your shooting time with it, future repair issues should be a non-factor. If you just mainly carry it for your current purposes, your 659 should serve your needs adequately...
