Pro-mag discontinuing for the 15-22?

dang both of the aftermarket mag producers are getting sued lol.if smith would just keep up with part of demand then these companies probably wouldnt even be making mags.i know it doesnt matter from the legal standpoint, just dont understand why it took them this long to file claims and why are going after them.

The length of time is because of how long it takes to get a patent. The filing date of the original provisional was 12/30/08, the patent itself wasn't issued until 1/22/13. You can't sue until you have a patent. Patent infringement is theft as Majorlk has pointed out. After getting their patent in January they likely sent a letter and sometime thereafter filed the suit. Actually, it appears to be quite quick from issue to lawsuit based on my experiences.

It appears there is one more patent on the mp 15-22 and there may be more pending. A very quick look at the other patent shows that it is more for the rifle itself.

Wow i got Lucky ordered 2 mags last Tuesday, they arrived on Thursday. These are very good at least the 2 i received havent had any issues.I want more think it was
able ammo.

I got both of my ProMag orders the same week and am not going to hoard them so I am letting 3 go. 3-32 rounders new in package. PM me if interested... I know some of you have been waiting a while and I only need so many so I want to get them to someone who may only have one or two mags.

They are going after them for THEFT, theft of proprietary property. S&W has a patent on the design of the follower and it would appear that both PM and PT stole the design, It's really that simple.

As for how long it's taken S&W to file suit? Who knows what conversations S&W has had with the company until now. Perhaps they were asked to cease and desist and the companies ignore the request.

No one knows what went on between the companies as there could have been a royalty deal that couldn't get worked or may even be in the process of trying to get worked out.

lulz, promag finally makes a product that works most of the time and then they discontinue it. Situation Normal

There is an Academy near my house that constantly has these in stock.
What's interesting is that they don't have a area to display them they just keep them stacked behind the counter. I had to tell one employee where they were behind the counter on one visit.

I could see S&W complaining if they weren't selling there mags, but they can't keep u with what people are ordering.

Promag couldn't keep up with there orders either. I'm still waiting for 4 mags that I ordered on 1-24-2013 and it was supposed to be 4-6 weeks. Terrible customer service with no replies from e-mails sent.
Looks to me like karma is paying them a visit.

Dang! I guess this explains it.:(

Have been trying to find a couple of 10RD ProMag mags for a couple of weeks now. I want them since their design makes it's easy to convert them to 15 rounders (I'm in Jersey).

Buy the 10-round restrictor from TactiCool22.com and shorten it to the required length for 15 rounds.

Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 10 Round Magazine Restrictor [MR1] - $4.25 : Tacticool22, Tactical .22 Rifle Parts and Accessories.

They will fit either the ProMag or S&W magazines.

Thanks but I've already ordered a couple to convert some 10/25 S&W mags, but to make them *truly* NJ compliant, I'm going to have to epoxy the floor plate shut. Then I won't be able to open them up to clean or clear them. What I like about the ProMag design is that I can modify it to be limited to 15 round and not have to reduce its functionality by gluing it shut.;)

Thanks for the info and link though.:)

You have to glue the floorplate on a S&W, but don't have to glue the body on a ProMag? Strange ... :)

I think he means that is not a removable piece but the follower itself. The extra piece on the sw would be removable and therefore requires the glueing.

Pershing is correct. On the ProMag, the round limiter device is actually part of the follower and would require cutting to defeat it. On the S&W, the round limiter would be Tacticool's extra piece which slides into the magazine but could be easily removed.

I know it's a silly distinction really since if you were not a law-abiding citizen, you could just snap the ProMag round limiter off and load up the max 32 rounds. But it seems to me that of the two mags modified to hold 15 rounds, the ProMag is more in keeping with the NJ law.

Here's a pic of the ProMag follower/round limiter (thanks to Tw0Bears):

Yesterday my LGS had some in stock, there were still a bunch left. Vince's Guns in Riverview on 301 for those of you in the Tampa area. He is not open today but is open on Monday.

Placed an order for 6 Promag 32 rd mags on 2/11. Never got them, and forgot all about them. On Friday, 9/13, I received an email confirmation that my order just shipped.

7 months late, but hey Jack, I'll take them. $16.58 per mag. Not sure if that's a decent price or not, but at this point I guess it doesn't matter. I wonder if they have settled the lawsuit.
