Purchased a 5 inch M1.0 9mm Pro almost 3 years ago and this thing has been a real test of my patience.
First it shot incredibly low, no matter what bullet weight was used, I realize these sights are designed to have the dot on front sight cover the poi. But this thing typically shot 4-6 inches low at 15 yds. Finally got that resolved by installing a set of Williams adjustable sights. Not the greatest but functional.
Second, the trigger on this gun was less that stellar. I've handled hundreds of M&P's (having run a gun shop for over 9 years) and triggers can be all over the place and this one was well below average. A friend gave me an Apex Forward Set Sear Trigger Kit for Christmas a while back and I finally got around to installing it and that did help a great deal.
Third, I've tried at least a dozen types and weights of ammo and this gun just does not shoot worth a hoot. Shooting has been from a solid benched rest at only 15 yards due to worsening corrected eyesight. Best accuracy has been with Winchester 124gr NATO ammo and that has been truly less than good, 4+ inch groups. I have no problem chewing a ragged hole at same distance with any of my other M&P's (except 9mm Shield which is also not the most accurate) or even my daily carry SA 3 inch Micro 45acp. So I'm now looking a trying an aftermarket replacement barrel. Has anyone had any experience with any of the replacement barrels in the M&P? Apex is constantly out of stock on the 5 inch, so they are a non starter. How about Wilson, Barsto, Storm Lake or any others I might not have thought of? Not looking for ports or threaded barrel, just standard 5 inch replacement.

I have a Storm Lake 5” barrel I’d sell cheap. I used it with my Pro until I bought a CORE top end and sold the Pro top with factory barrel.

It sounds like you need a Fitted barrel. Any drop in you get leaves you with a crooked gun and no better results.. Familiar story among the amateur competitors. One went through 3 barrels of various brands before he caught on.
Probably not what you wanted to hear.

OKFC05 - Not necessarily looking for a drop in fit barrel. Expect to at least need to fit the hood and the bottom engagement. Actually prefer to get a virgin barrel so I can fit it to my slide and frame.
I love the platform almost as much as my 1911s and Hi Powers but the accuracy of this gun sucks. I've got 8 different models and the Pro is the worst by far.

Apex shows no gun smith barrels in stock and has not shown any changes in some time . I fit a apex gunsmith fit barrel to my wifes CORE some time back and the factory specs were so bad the the GS barrel only needed right at 2.5ths removed from the rear of the hood to push in tight . The lug area needed no fitting . Break in was only the one mag of underwood +P and a 20lb recoil spring instead of the light spring used in gen1 and it ran fine even with my 124gr coated swc practice ammo and barrel drops in snuggly but not press in needed after the first 17 rounds . Lock is up good considering no lug work was and I have shoot a couple 5 shot 1.1" 25 yard groups .

A can understand how some other folks have M&P apex upgraded pistols that are capable of a bit less than 1" at 25 yards .

Call apex and ask about some 1.0 barrels . If enough ask maybe they will build more . IF not ask apex who makes a good barrel with enough material for some minor fitting !! NO idea who makes a good replacement today .

Oddly I have a 4.25 40sw 1.0 that's a real good shooter but has a thumb safety and a apex fss trigger kit

I'm not usually a pessimist but I think you should sell the damn thing and buy another that's not plagued with issues.

You shouldn't need to replace or fix every part to get the gun working properly.

I agree GIVE APEX a call. Don't just rely on website postings.

While my M&P is a 4.25" M2.0,... adding the trigger and APEX barrel made a world of difference. IMO, worth bugging them about getting what you want "in stock". ;)

Apex isn’t making the gunsmith first barrels for the time being because they sell far more semi-drop in and the average accuracy difference is about half an inch at 25 yards.

I have an apex in my pro but had a storm lake first (after the factory). You will notice the difference with the storm lake. You can also try KKM. They sell a semi drop in. About the same price as apex

Well atleast its good seeing gen 1 barrels again . Way to go APEX . Now if only they offered a 4.25 conversion barrel !! There will be a day I'll want a 9mm over a 40sw .
