About 3 weeks ago, my BG 2.0 totally crapped out. The trigger could be pulled all the way to the stop without engaging the firing mechanism. The slide locked 3 times with a live round in the chamber. I've been through 4 recoil springs/guide rods, and so many other problems I'm probably leaving something out.

Nevertheless, I wrote a heartfelt but direct letter to one of the upper management VPs who answered me responsibly and said he would take a personal interest in my firearm's difficulties. The next day I received a phone call from the Director of Customer Service, a very friendly and professional gentleman who told me that my gun had been taken to the range by a couple of their technicians and they had fired 400 rounds of 9 kinds of ammo through it flawlessly. There was some technical reason they decided to completely replace the slide and all of its components. The gun was fired again with no slip-ups at all.

I received the gun back Tuesday and got to the range yesterday. I noticed there was an extra, new magazine in the box with my original one, and the tabs of 9 boxes of different kinds of ammo.

My XS sights were replaced with factory sights but were included in intact condition in the package. The XS sights will go back on tomorrow. I went out on the range and the gun performed flawlessly. I took it home and gave it a really good cleaning as it was filthy inside from powder residue from the factory analysis.

I will fire another couple hundred rounds through it and place it back in my carry rotation with my Sig P365X, S&W 49, S&W 442-1 and maybe one more. It might take more time and more shooting to build back my confidence.

I must say that, while my confidence is still shaken in the BG 2.0 that I really wanted to like very much, I was very impressed by the service and communication I received. The two gentlemen I dealt with were just that: gentlemen. Nevertheless, my honeymoon with the BG 2.0 is, unfortunately, over.

... I received a phone call from the Director of Customer Service... who told me that my gun had been taken to the range by a couple of their technicians and they had fired 400 rounds of 9 kinds of ammo through it flawlessly.

What are your thoughts on how this is possible?

So you have a new slide and guide rod spring assembly.

How accurate was the sights on the new slide?

Why am I not surprised that S&W did not even clean it before returning it.

Yes, a new slide and guide rod assembly. I see no improvements in the guide rod assembly upon removal/replacement.

The new sights, particularly the front sight, was absolutely uncentered and shot low and to the left.

My reaction to the uncleaned gun was more surprise than anything else; I can only guess they left it that way to prove they had shot the hell out of it? I really have no idea.

Regarding the BG2, I've read numerous posts where the gun had issues bad enough that the owner sent it back to S&W. S&W gets the gun and test fires it and states that they FOUND NO ISSUES!

Is there an explanation to how this happens?

Are the gun owners clueless?

Did the gun magically get "fixed" during transit?

Does S&W have superpowers that can fix a gun by touching it?

Or.. does S&W see that the gun has issues, fixes the problems, but claims there ARE NO PROBLEMS?

I don't get it?

I don't believe for a second they actually take the time to check out any particular problem with any returned gun. They shoot it and send it back with an "operator error" note unless there is a gross malfunction or obvious defect. Guess I'm just cynical.

I'm not that cynical - yet.

However, they take no liability whatsoever and I think the response covers that.

I have a friend who sent in his revolver because the entire barrel was canted to the left. They replaced the barrel.

Why they can't deal with the guys who put them together in the first place, or replace defective parts thereafter, is way beyond me.

Apparently American society is getting used to the replace-not-fix solution. Sad.

I have a P365X that is, as we say here, "flawless." I also have a flawless S&W M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 Perf Cent Model. Never had one single problem with my Shield. Incredibly accurate, too.

It is very disturbing how many people have to die due to a known design failure before the manufacturer will do a massive recall.

I remember the Ford Pinto's gas tank issue. 27 people died, burned to death, and multiple seriously burned victims before Ford, after 7 years finally recalled the vehicles.

The problem is after you carry the SW 2.0 or the Ruger LCP Max even a compact Sig feels like a brick on you. I have a P365 and it was shelved for the two compact .380's they are so damn light and carry able even in summer clothes.

Yes... is that a double entendre? :D

Who you callin' an entendre ?!;)

My LGS finally got a BG 2.0 and after handling it at the counter, I walked away from it.

Along with the front sight not being centered, the slide had a gritty feeling and wouldn't go into battery after racking it.

There is no way I could trust something like that.

Yes, take a good hard look at all the user reports on the FN Reflex. I don't think you will like what you find.

Yeah I see that now. I think they have worked out the issues since then. They recently released a new version of it the fn reflex xl.

vp9sk might be worth looking at.
Seems like a lot of these micro pistols compact pistols have problems.
