Just picked this up in a trade a like new in the aluminum pc case a s&w pc dk 38 super pc1911serial number starts with dkc but I've noticed the same model in the gray plastic case and the serial number starts with ukc? Can anyone tell me the difference between these two guns besides the prefix of the serial number and the cases they come in. I've heard that the dkc serial numbered guns were hand built and the others weren't can anyone verify that and tell me a little more about what I have? I am going to be listing it for sale soon because I really don't need it just FYI in case anyone will be interested. Now I have the majority of my questions answered now I'd like to get an idea of what a fair price would be on this gun because I'm going to be listing it soon? It comes in the original hard case with all manuals, 3 mags, spare sear spring and an extra mainspring.

I don't know the difference in the two if any, but all PC guns are hand built. Would love to see some pics of your new PC 38. Best of luck and be sure to give us a range report.

Can't enlighten you on the serial number thing, but I CAN tell you that my DK serial #d one has been a sweet a shooter and is built as well as any 1911 I have owned. Believe me when I tell you I have owned a few high end ones.

These were built in the PC, when the PC was the PC, in small batches and "really" hand built by real gunsmiths and tool makers.

I think all the 1911s built in that period will and do stack up with the Wilsons, Browns, and Baers. Well done and they were made to "shoot"

Thanks for the help guys, only thing I've noticed that is different is that the dkc serial numbered ones is that the flats on the slide as well as the frame is a brushed stainless but the ukc serial numbered ones just have the flats on the slide done in brushed stainless but the frame is not. Also how the serial number is stamped is a little different between the two the ukc stamped guns has the serial number in an oblong oval, I know I read somewhere that the first batch consisted of only 250 or so guns and we're made in either 05' or 06' then discontinued and then they did another run which were the "ukc" guns in 2010 maybe but I cannot seem to find that source anymore. If anyone else has any more info on these I'd love to know more about them and if there was in fact 2 different runs produced.

I got one in 2006…DKC and does it ever shoot!!!!
My hand-loads allow it to compete with any 9mm/45 1911 custom gun, and I have owned a lot of them…
It is not as accurate as my 945, but few are…However, they were made for entirely different kinds of shooting. This is a fantastic IPSC gun with fairly hot loads…And it is truly a work of art…
I have been tempted to replace the DK stocks, but why, they are comfortable.

Be sure to let us know when it is for sale and your price. I have always said that the only reason I still own one Kimber is because Smith & Wesson doesn't make a 1911 in .38 Super.

I have a Smith & Wesson Model TC1911-2 Doug Koenig Performance Center Classic Special, serial number DKC0264. According to the S&W factory the gun was shipped on April 26, 2011, however, the fired case is dated Nov. 23, 2005. The letter also states that my gun is one of a group of pistols with serial numbers DKC0025 TO DKC0644.

Interested in the 38 Super

I'd be interested once you determine you are ready to sell, please consider contacting me. I've been a long time fan of the S&W line-up. I'd love to add a 38 Super to my collection, especially on the 1911 frame and the PC heritage.

The actual Model# is PC1911-2, Mine is among the first 100. Although mine is not for sale, I would expect it would bring $2300.00 or more. An equivalent Les Baer would be nearly that.
