Just bought a 4013 TSW on gunbroker yesterday and should have it by Friday. I've always wanted a 3rd gen TSW and have never owned one before. Alls I know is that it is built on the 6906 frame and they have double stack 9 round mags. Any info and things I should know about the model would be appreciated. Pics and range report will be posted as soon as I get my paws on it. Thanks in advance.

Yes it's a .40 but I believe the frame is the same as the 6909 and overall dimensions are similar.

Though I've never seen one in person, this is my understanding as well. The 4013TSW will be a little beefier and have a different frame profile (non-stepped) than the 6906/6904. Early 4013TSW's without the rail will have more rounded frame edges, while the railed later models will have sharper lines (and a rail, or the holes where the rivets used to be).

The later TSW's can also be identified by the slide markings, which will say '40 Tactical' instead of 'Tactical,' and I believe they will also have the witness hole on top of the barrel. These were the TSW's that had mated slides and frames during production, and are known to have tight tolerances. The trade-off is the rail, which many people do not like for CC purposes.

By all accounts, either version would make a great introduction into the 3rd Gen TSW world. If you can swing it, there are also some trade-in 4006TSW's that are on Gunbroker right now as well. Would be a good 'big brother' to your 4013TSW, and both guns can share the 11-round mags. :)

You'll love it, if you like 40SW. Some people have a problem with it; I don't! I have two 4013TSW's, one pre-rail, & one that has had the rail removed. Love 'em both. A very accurate gun.

You are correct, it is very similar to the 6906 and things like grips and holsters are interchangeable. One of my favorites! Not a lot to worry about other than keeping the rails well greased, as it is an alloy frame with a stainless slide.

I don't mind the rail. I will never use it, but it doesn't make a difference. To me it's what makes the TSW line different from other 3rd gens. Mine is shipping with an old set of hogues that are pretty worn. Luckily the shop Im using for the transfer had a brand new set of 6906 grips hanging on the wall in hogue packaging and they are throwing it in with the transfer. I think 9rd mags are going to be fun trying to track down as they dont seem to be very common.

Mags

Great gun.was going to bid again on same one.already have both variations.slightly different on frame and slide.mags not that hard to find been pickin em up lately.climags had 3 in stock last i checked.can pick up on ebay 20-30 range .great carry gun

I took it on the buy now. Really wanted one so I didn't chance it. I'll take a look at eBay and others for a couple more mags.

You can always use 4006 magazines with grip adapters.
