If there was any question that Smith's 500 Mag puts them on the top of the heap for most powerful production handgun, maybe their 1500 big bore leaves no doubt!
Well, ok it's only a single shot…….Model 209-277 N frame. No I've never shot it but it's a helluva' conversation piece tucked in a shoulder holster at a gunshow when people ask what I've got and could they see it. I could have sold it a dozen times due to its novelty. When I saw it on GB I couldn't resist.

Yeah! I'm looking for one of those adapters to be able to shoot a 12 ga shell out of it. My son takes my pictures but he just left on vacation.

From the photos, it looks to have a beautiful polish and blue job. True? Also, do you have any flares to fire in it?

I opened this thinking it was in the wishlist thread or in the jokes section...

I love how this forum is always making me learn new things.

It makes me think of the Hellboy gun for some reason.

Awesome!

How much!?!?!?

This was one of those things that is hard to value. It's not considered a firearm so not listed in the usual sources. However, it has true firearm quality, cratsmanship and typical S&W high polished bluing, far above any other flare gun I was able to find.

It languished on GB for weeks with an opening bid of $600 and no bids at all. Finally it's uniqueness got the best of me and I offered $400 which was accepted and well worth it to me. Flares are available for it but I have never fired it.

That's an interesting piece that looks like it's very well made.

I notice a front sight-I wonder how it groups :D

How much are the flares-I would dare say that they would be a hell of a lot brighter than the 12 gauge ones.

Man, that puts my H&K 26.5mm flare gun to shame!

I'm not certain where you'd find 1.5" flares or what they would cost. The best price for 26.5s is between $5-9 per round... Love the parachute flares.

I had one years ago. I believe they were all finished in a matte blue--looks like someone may have prettied this one up!

That is my understaning as well. It could very well be reblued. No factory rework markings. And no real clear indications of reblue, so it was nicely done if so, however. But the bright blue is part of the panache for me.

They are standard 37MM flares and are available for about the same price, but not near as common as the 26.5MM flares.
