The Wild Bunch.

Lots of good ones already listed. I think Band of Brothers was the best television series every, but the man asked for a war movie, so I'll add a seldom seen gem, A Midnight Clear with Gary Sinise, one of the best friends veterans have in the US. Very haunting look at war and leadership.

'Bridge' was.....

For the more modern westerns, have to go with Unforgiven and 3:10 to Yuma.

And no one has yet mentioned the military film Bridge on the River Kwai, a true classic. That one really stuck with me since I was a child and I still watch it when it comes on. Have to back that up with The Great Escape and The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen. OK, more than two.... lock me up.

Bridge Over the River Kwai is very high on my list. I just thought the Battle of Britain is more general and sweeping whereas the 'Bridge' is one obscure place and time.

I like The Searchers more each time I watch it.

Band of Brothers is the military cinematic experience that draws me in every time I wstch it...movie or not.

Honorable mention also to, Midway, Zulu, Battle of Britain, and Patton.

I did not really care for the movie. It was okay, but it was missing something. And the stuff with the NVA at the beginning and end really felt tacked on and pedantic.

Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War. Korean War told from the side of the South Koreans.

The Lost Battalion. The Lost Battalion of World War I.

Another fine western is The Long Riders.
