For the more modern westerns, have to go with Unforgiven and 3:10 to Yuma.
And no one has yet mentioned the military film Bridge on the River Kwai, a true classic. That one really stuck with me since I was a child and I still watch it when it comes on. Have to back that up with The Great Escape and The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen. OK, more than two.... lock me up.
I did not really care for the movie. It was okay, but it was missing something. And the stuff with the NVA at the beginning and end really felt tacked on and pedantic.I can't choose a western. But why has no one mentioned, We Were Soldiers?
