1006 10mm I had to share

I used to own a 1006, along with a Colt Delta Elite. I loved both of them, but due to arthritis problems, hands and wrists, sold all of my high caliber handguns (10mm, .41Mag, .44Mag, .45ACP, etc.). Loved 'em all and cried to sell them.

But, this poor, mutilated, tortured, disfigured weapon is unbelievable. Why??????????? As has been obviously stated, what you effectively have here now might have a hard time keeping up with my wife's .38 snubbie with Nyclads in it.

Oh man. Some people's kids. There's just no accounting for bad taste or stupidity.

If you can buy it for a real, real reasonable price, do so. It's definitely got a lot of conversational value. And who knows, it might handle OK! And as a curiosity, it's definitely curious!

The hybrid comp was all the rage about 15-20 years ago, unfortunately on this particular pistol it is rather pricey to go back to stock once you mill the slide for that barrel. I think the price of a new slide and barrel at retail is getting close to a complete 1006 these days.

I also have a 1006. What I cannot believe is that a gunsmith would even do this. Would you take your gun to him?

Maybe he wanted to turn it into a musical instrument - they look like the holes on a fife.

I would be surprised if the bullet was able to 30 yards before hitting the ground. Bet if the barrel had another inch the bullet would be stuck.

As for the gun smith I would not use him, or recommend him to anyone. The GS that did this has no scruples in my opinion regardless of money charged for the service.

SgtSam I also had to drop all my big auto's 1006 & 1086, Officers 45 ACP, but kept the Para 14-45 PXT Gun Rights and my G-29 because for some reason they don't hurt my hands to shoot as lomg as the round count is kept 50 or less. Also My Dan Wesson's which are S&W N frame size don't bother my hands and neither does my N frame 610's again as long as round count is kept under 50 or so. The exception is the 744 SS DW 44 Remington Magnum is so heavy as to have the recoil of a 38 Special in a 686 6" barrel gun.
