Just picked up my 3rd Smith and Wesson 3rd Gen 10mm today. It is a 1066. I already have a 1006, and a 1086. Thought I would share a pic.

Can't wait to get to the range with this baby tomorrow, and see how she runs.

It looks like you got a great 1066 there. I use mine as my cold weather CCW pistol. It has never let me down at the range and I trust mine. Enjoy your 1066.

Congrats on the 1066! I got mine this spring. It was my first 10mm and first 3rd gen S&W. My only regret is that I waited this long to own either one. Mine has been flawless.

Nice find, I only have the 1076 and 1006 but I just started collecting them about 1 year ago.

What's that nasty looking lever thingy on the slide? Yuck. LOL.

I've owned and shot all the tens except the 1046 and the 1066 was by far my best shooter.

I'm not much for DOA myself but the trigger on 1086 or 1046 seems to be about as good as it gets. Even better than the corresponding 4586 for whatever reason.

Best of both worlds in my 1076. No slide mounted safety and traditional double action first shot, single action after that.

I bought it because I'm a Sig Sauer fan but Sig Sauer has never made a 10mm.

I would love to have one of those.

My 4566 is my main go to handgun. The third generation S&W autos are about as scarce as hens teeth around here. Sometimes you see 9mms and once in a while a .40. But you never see .45s or 10mm guns. :(

I just bought a S&W 1006 from my local gun shop today, looks like new.
I'll probably take it to the range tomorrow and try it out.
I got it for $700.00 which I think was a fare price for me and the seller.
I already have a Colt, Delta Elite and a 10mm Mech Tech carbine so it will fit right in.
I reload and cast my own bullets and have a few thousand rounds of new brass and loaded ammo so I feel I'm all set.
It is a large gun but it seems to fit my hand well.
I'll need to pick up a couple of extra magazines for it.
looking forward to shooting it.

^^^ if you own a 10MM anything, you need to check out the link Shadow posted. I'm positive that you will love the 1006. They just don't make 'em like they use too...

I took it to the range today and after a few turns on the adjustable sight I had it shooting where I wanted it.
It did well and it threw the cases a few feet behind me.
The fired cases looked good and the slide locked back on the last round as it should.
So far I'm very well pleased with it.
Looking forward to really putting it through it's paces.
I'm going to strip it down and go through it real good when I get more time.

I compared my stainless Delta Elite to the (new to me) S&W 1006, by the way, I do think it was new, there were no wear marks any where and no powder or fouling, no oil either before I shot it.
Anyway, the Colt weighs 2 lb. 7 oz., the S&W weighs 2 lb. 9+ oz.
The slide is thicker on the S&W but the frame is thinner than the Colt.
The grip is thinner on the S&W by about .2 tenths of an inch, side to side but is about the same length front to back.
The frame is deeper on the S&W and the sights sit higher but I didn't try to measure it.
The height and length of both guns are about the same. I took some side to side pictures of them together and other than the deeper frame on the S&W, they look much the same.
Same white, three dot sights although the Colt is non-adjustable and doesn't need them, their perfect as they are.
I like the feel of both of them.
I didn't buy the S&W to carry, I bought it because it is arguably the toughest 10 mm on the market and I reload for it although I have never had any problems with the Colt at all.
I mean, the S&W was just sitting there in the display case and it was calling my name, what else could I do?
BTW, I think the S&W is a far better 10 mm or .45 ACP than the Colt Double Eagle. Just My Opinion.
