My 1076, when I was dryfiring this morning, the hammer, after racking the slide and decocking the hammer, then pulling the trigger like simulating the first shot, the hammer would fall and stop right at the place where it originally was when I began the trigger stroke. In essence, it is returning to the decocked position.. what is causing this.. this pistol has had the decocker upgrade.

I guess that I am going to have to call S&W aint' I.

What may be happening is the hammer rebounding to the decocked position. This happens sometimes when dryfiring with an empty chamber. Try a snapcap or the eraser end of a pencil.

Well that is not the problem.. and it only does it in double action, not in single.. so I guess I am going to have to send it to smith to have it worked on.

Well, talked to the guys at Smith, they said it is half-cocking and that more than likely it is the transfer bar that is giving me the fit.

Well yesterday I decided to take the pistol apart myself, removed the magazine decock device and the problem when away.
