Please tell me if the S&W 1911 comes with the tool to remove the barrel bushing in the box?

If it has to be bought separately what's the best option?

Cheers!

Heres what I came up with when I googled "do sw 1911's come with a barrel bushing tool?'
No, the Smith & Wesson SW1911 does not typically come with a barrel bushing tool. While some 1911 models do include this tool for disassembly and reassembly, it is not a standard inclusion with the SW1911.
A simple google will answer a lot of questions.

Most 1911 type pistols do not require a bushing tool to disassemble.
I agree, 99.9% . . . All my 1911s except for one don't need the bushing tool. The Les Baer, though, is tight! The bushing won't come out without a tool. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. It's a bit of a pain, but it sure is accurate. TANSTAAFL!

Well, firstly, My apologies for asking the question, Rather than point me to the ever unreliable google, that is rampant with MISINFORMATION, AI and just plain guesswork.... I'd rather ask a forum of knowledgeable people who are happy to share that knowledge.
If you're not interested in helping, just stay out of the thread, your reply is pretty much useless and all it shows is your ignorance.

Your google answer is incorrect by the way LOL.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've looked on You tube to find field strip videos and the ones i found used the tool but one also stressed that once the gun is fully broken in it's much easier to strip and reassemble.
If there's one in the box, Thanks @Revoman i'll use it until i no longer need to i guess.

I have the tool SW included with their full sized 1911, but this one works better. The spring retainer remains trapped, and can't go flying off into spaces unknown. It doesn't help with reassembly, but that's easy enough with the butt of a magazine, while retaining control.

The merchant video makes it look simple to use, if i can find one of these i'll grab one and try it, not sure what's different between "Govt." and "Officers" style 1911's but i'm guessing one side will work fine for me....

Thanks very much.

There are many different designs for this tool, but only one that I really like. It is made by Cylinder and Slide. It has a "hump" on it that keeps the recoil spring under control so it doesn't fly off. They are available at Midway and some other places. Most often I don't need a tool for this job, but some 1911's do indeed have a tight barrel bushing and having this tool is a help in those instances. The C&S tool is steel, not plastic or aluminum.

I don't know if all S&W 1911 style pistols come with a barrel bushing wrench, as I have only purchased Colt's 1911 pistols and they do indeed come with a wrench. I couldn't imagine a good quality 1911 pistol wouldn't come with this wrench, but who knows for sure. I will add that if your barrel bushing is tight it will chew up a plastic wrench in short order if you aren't careful.

sorry my Ignorance brought you the wrong answer, I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.
Enjoy your 1911

They use to. All my 3 of my first generation SW1911’s came with one. None of the guns needed one though.image.jpg

As a former ffl dealer I can say for sure that S&W, Dan Wesso, Springfield Armory, Taurus and Kimber come with the wrench. Some dealers will remove accessories to make extra money.
