Today is the 1st day of winterr for us in the Northern latitudes.
It was in the lower 20's here this morning in the Ozarks of
NW Arkansas.
It is supposed to be near 80 degrees for a high here on Christmas
day. 6 year old grand daughter wants snow, guess that is out of
the question for us on Christmas this year. I have always said
I would like it to snow 6" on Christmas eve and all be melted the
day after Christmas.
With all of that said, a Happy Holiday Season to all.

I live near the continental divide in the mountains of Colorado. My house in on the side of a 14,000' + mountain and is situated at an elevation of 9050'. That being said we did not receive our first measurable snow till the 10th of this month, and it was a whopping 3". Had another 3" snow a few days later for a grand total of 6" for the winter and it has mostly melted away. Checking old records by this time most years at least 2' if not 3' had fallen. Now if we could just get that global warming we have been promised.

Yes, to Solstice! The weather has been a bit too warm and devoid of snow for my expectations at 9950' in Taylor Park. However, there have been two nights of minus 20°! Only zero last night. This looks like the calm before the proverbial storm. Thursday - Monday looks like a humdinger! I live for this. Pics to follow - I hope :) Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc. from the Hermit of Shalom. Love the ones you're with.

I think you're supposed to get 2'-3' this week

60deg. F in my part of Colorado today.
60 Mutha Humpin' Degrees in December.

I actually watered my lawn yesterday afternoon and into the early evening.

I still have green plants in the flowerbed.
ITEOTWAWKI..AIFF (Let ke know if you need a hand with this one...:p)

No snow here but they are predicting rain. It should be cold for us, in the 60s and windy. I haven't seen snow in many years. It's nice to see it on the surrounding mountains but not in the valley. I had driving in it and shoveling it.

Good to see you have time with your family. I had my Christmas 2 weeks ago with my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Do they ever stop growing?

We may get rain to snow on Christmas. Then more snow for Boxing Day. Then maybe even more. All ready.

We got maybe 6-8" on the ground accumilated, in a La Nina weather pattern which usually means a warmer than normal winter with increased percipitation. We have had some humdingers in the past but with the current weather patterns being what they are we are getting more warm weather and this coming week is calling for more likely rain, snow mix with temps over freezing during the day...white Christmas is OK if I don't have to remove it. Now that I am more fragile I don't bounce up when I fall of the ice, don't like winter the way I used to...Been knocked out twice due to falls on ice, left the imprint of my stocking cap on my scalp a couple years ago, probably what saved me from serious damage.
