Looks like I'm done for the year as far as hunting is concerned. I managed to get out a total of twice this year. That actually is a lot for me, haha. Most years it's only once, if I'm lucky.
Trip #1 was the annual deer hunt 2500 miles away in Ohio. It's a week of family, friends, a couple wacko's, whitetail's and shotguns. Or pistols, that's what I used this year. Well, I carried it anyway...didn't get to actually use it. The deer just flat out weren't showing themselves all week. End result, skunked. I did get to see two doe's and was close to having a shot opportunity so the juices did get flowing once. Other than getting skunked the trip was great.
Trip #2 was a pig hunt closer to home, about 200 miles away, in King City, CA. This was three days of friends, rifles, stunning geology and oinkers. First day there we spotted a group of 5 pigs from about 2500 yards away. We moved in on them with an end result of one of us getting a good shot from 210 yards. One pig down! Wasn't me, was a first time hunter buddy of mine. He's hooked for good now that he was successfull on his first hunt. Turns out those were the last pigs we saw the whole time. Just like above, at least the juices go going once. It was an incredible hunt even with getting skunked.
That's it. Some good memories and a big empty freezer in the garage haha. Looking forward to 2013.
