Powder similarities

Very dead. The original posting was a spoof on another powder thread, I think Blue Dot.

Or it may have been the classic H110/Win 296 really long debate!!

Then it rose from the dead once before!!

I know lets talk about brass cleaning methods:D

Come on now - there is nothing wrong with having clean brass to shoot matching powders from

Hmmm . . . I've been looking for couple pounds of either one and would just be happy to find it. . . . regardless of the fact that the label on Winchester seems to have more sex appeal . . .

My biggest dilemma was when I went to the LGS . . . they didn't have either one on the shelf but they did have a new shipment of small pistol primers in . . . now THAT was a major decision as they had both Winchester and CCI . . . I was surprised . . . they were the same price. I was so confused on which one to buy that I just compromised and both a K of each brand. . . . regardless of the Winchester packaging being more colorful than the CCI package . . . and I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that both brands went "bang" . . . :-)

OP . . good question and thanks for asking it as there are a lot of folks wondering the same thing. :-)

I'm a big fan of CCI primers because I have used them for a very long time and never had a failure. When I can't find CCI I go to Winchester and to tell the truth, I can really see no difference...

Did your local shop have any Ramshot Zip on the shelf?

And a dog....

It is the "All American " jug of powder.
Did you not notice the............

Red, White & Blue colors !!

Plus a "Cowboy" and horse................

Hello !!

Only thing missing is a hot dog in the rides hand and a box of apple pie tied to the saddle bags.

And a dog..... and a pretty girl. And a death head. Everybody knows that death sells.:D

Dodge Neon, Plymouth Neon. 'zact same car! One pricier than the other. Other examples of products abound. It's not just us reloaders!

In these days of hard-to-find powder, it is very timely to compare anew which powders are equivalent or at least can be substituted for one another. The market is way too sketchy for many of us to be but so locked in to a single powder... options are more important than ever. JMHO, YMMV.

W231 or HP38, I'll take either one when(if) I see it. I haven't seen any of either since last summer. I know it has appeared from time to time since friends have bought some. I must have blinked and missed it:eek:. The one exception is Gunbroker, but buying it at $50 per pound and then paying hazmat for that one pound brings it to over $80 per pound is way too rich for me. (not complaining about GB or the sellers there, if that's what they can get, more power too them). I have been able to find substitutes in the meantime (Autocomp, Titegroup, IMR7625) but will switch back in a heartbeat. I have a favorite load that seems just perfect for my type of shooting. I've gotten close with the other powders but not quite. I must have too much "Goldilocks" in me.;), I like things "just right".

Been using 231 for many years, tried to find some a couple of months ago, found HP38.

Now, I'm suffering withdrawals.......I love that blue label so much.....
