We had an old lathe in the marina, belt drive, the thickness was single ply, and about 1/4 inch thick. The belt that was on the lathe lasted for the 10 years I was there.
But an old school lathe just is not tactikewl though. If I ever have another one I will make sure it has a six ply belt just to spend more money.
I just ordered one 1.25" wide. That Chic Gaylord Combat
Speed Scabbard I just recently acquired only takes belts
up to 1.25". Thanks for your recommend.

Don't know about the belt but if I were 30 years younger I'd really like to have a few dates with Ashley. BTW, once I stopped gazing at Ashley long enough to pay attention to the belts they do look rather well made. However the big test for me is how they look after 10 years of daily use and my Galco purchased in 2008 is still going strong.

I took a chance on a 511 leather belt that was about $35. It's black with a "normal" looking buckle, can be a regular dressy belt. It's very stiff as it should be, and it's 3/16" thick which is thinner than my specialty leather gun belt. I disagree that a gun belt needs to be thick, many holster clips won't hold well on a thick belt. And some belt-slide holsters won't fit through the cutouts on some holsters.

I'm not in the market for a belt at this time. But we shouldn't knock a company on their product based on price alone. There is waaaay to much of that going on now days, not just on products but elsewhere.

Is the belt/leather stiff ?
The reason I ask is a recently purchased ( off the net) single thickness leather gun belt , with cartridge loops , the leather is soft , I wish it were stiffer to better hold the holster and Ruger Blackhawk in place.
The one thing a photo doesn't show is how stiff the belt is and in the case of a heavy gun, stiffness matters.

Gary, I wish I could give you a definitive answer but something like stiffness is relative. The belt isn't as stiff as typical duty/police-type belts but it's pretty stiff for what it is, due to the thickness. I don't have anything as large and heavy as a Blackhawk to try with it and don't want to tell you "Yeah, it's stiff, go get one" and have it not work out and you guys saying ol' -db- is a liar lol...
Best I can say is try one and if it doesn't work for you, it's only $30. You'll still have a good belt for other uses.

Glad to see it works. I went to a local farm supply store and purchased a two-layer leather belt for around $35. Been carrying a Glock 23 for two years with it and it works just as well as the day I purchased it.
I can put my Glock 17 on it with a three mag pouch and it doesn't sag. Leather is very stiff even after two years.

FWIW, I bought a couple off of VersaCarry belts off Sportsmans Guide for $14.17 apiece a year and a half ago. They are 1-1/2" wide and roughly 3/16" thick. I can't say how they'll hold up after 10 years, but so far so good.

Well, after reading this thread I ordered one on the 29th. It arrived today. That was fast. The belt seems well made, and it is very thick. It is fairly stiff, but not as stiff as those with steel liners - I guess that should be obvious. I'm looking forward to see how it holds up. I see no reason to think that it won't, though.
It's definitely better than the Columbia belt I've been using that cost about the same. This one is twice as thick and stiffer. It's about as thick as the tooled "cowboy" belts I used to wear back in the day. I like that the holes are spaced at 3/4 inch rather than the typical 1 inch. Makes for a somewhat better fit.
I ordered the same size as my other belts, and the fit is true to size.
Overall nice belt and very fast service.

Just received my two $30.00 belts today. At the present time, am carrying my 60-7. No sag what so ever. they look good, feel and wear good. At least as well as my Bullhide belt. For $30 bucks, You can't go wrong! I Like em!

I ordered one on the 30th and received it yesterday. I needed a new brown casual belt anyway, so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone give it a try. As others have said, the thickness is as advertised. It's a good quality belt. I carried a 3.5", steel framed, 1911 in an OWB holster on it last night and it supported it just fine. Time will tell...
