Hi all
Purchased a outdoorsman and found a bulge at where the frame and barrel meet, Had a gunsmith look at it was told it was barrel choke? the treads were to large for the the frame is this possible for a pistol mfg in 47-48 and it is fine to shoot. Thanks

Can you post a photo of this revolver so we can have a better idea what you're talking about?

I'm not sure if you're asking if it's safe to shoot, or telling us it is, but if it's the former, what did your gunsmith say?

For what it's worth, if you're not sure, I would suggest sending it to S&W and let them take a look at it in order to determine what condition it's in.

I am curious about barrel choke and what causes it. The smith told me it is fine to shoot might grab a little lead at times.
