A LGS has an early 5904 that looks almost unfired for $399. It has fixed sights, square trigger guard, and one 14 rd magazine.

Good buy?

Thanks for your input!

I think I will get it for my son (now 7) and give it to him for some future event, maybe a graduation or 18/21 B-day. Give it a good oiling, pickup a couple new factory mags, and squirrel it away for a while.

If you can do that without at least trying it out you're a stronger man than I am.

You should squirrel away 9mm ammo at the same time so he has something to shoot, and hope that we the people can still own a hi-cap semi auto hand gun.

I picked it up last night!

I already had a 5904 with adjustable sights and the round trigger guard, and did swap of the slides last night. My son will get the 5904 with the square guard and adjustable sights, and I will get the one with the fixed sights and round guard for carry.

The older style fixed sights are very nice with the rounded profile. All or my other 3rd Gens have the chunky Novaks.

Thanks!
