41 slide frozen shut, doesn't budge

The worst mess I ever had to clean up was when a hired hand sprayed a Win Mod 12 with WD40 years ago, left it very wet and stuck it behind the seat of my pickup where it stayed for a year or two. Found it and it was jammed tight. Very slow getting it cleaned out. I hear that new WD40 does not do that any more.

Maybe it won't but I'll never know. The ability for it to varnish up the works soured me on it MANY MANY years ago and I won't buy it or have it around. There are many better penetrating oils that WD-40.

I am glad the OP was able to get things un-stuck

A friend who is a gunsmith calls WD40 his best friend Because of the work it gives him when firearms freeze up! Like I said I have heard it will not do this anymore but have no proof.

My favorite rust preventives and lubricants are made my Sentury Solutions, they approach lubrication and rust prevention from a well based scientific approach.
