.45 Colt loading for a carbine??

11.2 gr of RedDot/255 SWC in my Winchester trapper

I don't think so. That is way over anything I have ever heard of and I don't load much on the mild side. That is 3.5 gr over the 6.7 (150+%) in my Speer #11

Lindbaugh lists 12 gr of Unique at 30,000 CUP (27,600psi) with a 260 gr SWC and Red Dot is way faster than Unique. Most loads use at least 25% less Red Dot than Unique.

I use a program called Quick Load. According to that program your loading is considered dangerous. I have to drop the charge down to 5.0 grains until it is considered safe.

My utility/ Cowboy Action load for 45 Colt is 6.7 WW231/Hp-38, 200-220 cast RNFP with WLP primers. Feeds great in Marlin 1894 and Winchester/Rossi 92's. It's also very manageable in 4-inch and 5.5-inch Vaqueros (as well as SAA clones). About 850 fps from handgun. I shot tens of thousands of them! No leading! Does not vibrate the gun apart. A little dirty, rifle actions NEED detail cleaned every 3000 rounds or end of season, whichever comes first.

1894 Marlins unscrew themselves. They can’t help it. At least that has been my experience. Maybe the plant was built over an Indian burial ground.

The AA#5 loading that you give is also to hot. 9.8 of AA#5 is about as hot as the program suggests.

PM me if you want and I will give you the data the program provides including chamber pressures.

Be very careful of what you post here. Someone may take it as gospel and try it. Could cause serious injury, loss of a firearm or............

I have tested over 30 different powder/bullet combinations over the years in my Uberti '73 Deluxe, 30" and the most accurate of all was a load using 8 grains Unique and a 255g RNFP. Averages 1130 fps and shoots 2.5" groups at 100 yards. It is the one below, except I added a Lyman tang sight.

I have a rossi 92 , 16" barrel and have shot John Linebaughs load using 8.0 grs of W231/ HP-38 with complete satisfaction . Accuracy was good , plenty of down range punch and yes--- clean shooting . I used a LEE 255 gr RNFP cast bullet . Paul
