4506 on Duty - Part 2

This was a great post for me for a few reasons...not knowing anyone in law enforcement, I just assumed you didn't have any choice at all about what you could carry, and would have assumed that, even if you had a choice of firearm, caliber was totally out of the question.

In any case, I only recently became aware the 4506 existed, and found a few offered at gunbroker--one of which looks to be outfitted with the very same Hogue sleeve on the grip. So, I'm here to learn a little bit about the model. Don't really need a single stack 45 that could do duty as a yacht anchor--but there's a lot of things I don't need that I would like to have.

Remember it's totally dependent on the individual department. LAPD is pretty liberal when it comes to duty guns. From what I understand NYPD is strictly 9mm, but 3 choices.

Some department require officers to carry off duty, some discourage it. Again every department is different.

Love these 3rd Gen Smiths and it's pretty heartening to see a big city cop rocking the big stainless iron in the age of Glock Perfection™ smothering everything else. Wish more departments had dug their heels in on keeping them then we might've gotten more of the late CHP-style TSWs.

Hey guys sorry for being MIA for a while. Been dealing with a lot at work and personal life. Also working on writing a post on the 4506 for CCW and some mods I've done to the gun for carry. Your support here is always appreciated.

How is the 4506-1 working out for you? Stay safe! Regards 18DAI

Can't speak for anybody else but mine is working out spectacularly :D
