My FIL has a newly acquired 4566TSW that is in nice shape, but the accessory rail is a bit loose. Is there a prefered method for peening the rivets? Sans any other advice, I would firmly support the rivet on the rail side and use a punch and hammer on the inside of the frame to tighten the rivet. Good plan, or is there a better way?

A fairly large press is used at the factory to install those rivets.

If it were me, as an armorer I'd call and ask for the rivets to be replaced under warranty. Easier all the way around.

Why not ask the shop to contact S&W and have it repaired under warranty?

I received a surplus TSW variant that didn't have the rail at all and Smith supplied the rail and installed it at no charge. I did have to get it there but they picked up the tab to return it.

FWIW,
Scott
