No........but it would work fine with a load of Trailboss. That bullet is designed for .45 Colt velocities. Using it for large game at .460 velocities would not be advisable. BTW...where did you get the starting load for of 51 grains of H110? I have my doubts as to whether or not you could even get than much H110 in a case and seat a bullet, much less shoot it safely.

Thanks for the information...my reloading information came from the internet... Handloading site...top load was 53 grains....which I thought was excessive....but I have checked several sites and manuals and they support using even more H 110 with the 200 grain bullet. Fortunatley I ask before I reload but 40 grains behind my 200 is good enough for me.

I use 50.5 gr H-110 with Hornady's 200 gr FTX. You want to use more powder with 25% heavier bullet? That's going to make some noise.

Charlies......this is from Handloads.com about the load info you are referring to.

Working up loads for the .460, I had no load data available. None. Keep in mind that all data listed here is by careful experimentation. None of it has been pressure tested, and I by no means suggest that the reader try to duplicate any of it. Pressure tested load data should be available very soon from sources such as Hodgdon Powder Company. I show this to illustrate my findings with the test gun only. Others much more qualified than I are working on load data for the .460 Magnum.

I have loaded a lot of .460 and a few 250gr XTP bullets(they too are intended for .45 colt velocities and NOT .460 velocities). No way would I pack 51 gr of H110 under one of 'em and shoot it outta my gun. 240 gr XTP-MAGS(intended for .460 velocities) exhibit sticky extraction in my gun with any load over 47.5gr of H110, even tho this is still one gr below max. The 250 grainers seat quite a bit deeper...........just sayin'.

I suggest you get a reliable manual or two and cross reference your "internet" loads first before proceeding.

I have loaded 240gr XTP over 46gr H110. Around 2100 FPS and I have found it to be accurate in my 8 3/8" 460 XVR

Other loads I have seen but not tried. I do not remember where I saw this.

460 reloading issue

I am using Lee dies and have this issue when using the resizing die. look at the ring on the bottom compared to the one I have not resized yet. Help please!!

doubt if you can get the bullet seated with that load. if you could it will be over pressure.

That would be excessive even with the much lighter 200 FTX.

The 250 grain XTP is not suitable for 460 loads especially at top end.
This is a bullet with an design limit well below 460 operation.

This can be confirmed in the Hornady reloading books.

Use XTP MAG bullets in 460 not XTP - big difference in jackets

This should not pose any issues, providing they chamber without is force.

The sizing ring in the die does not go any further down.
