I just purchased a 586-L Comp and have a question about its coating. First of all I like it but I would have preferred a traditional blueing finish. It's called a blued matt black finish on the Smith & Wesson web site. I'm in the coatings business and I would call it more of a "satin" finish than a "Matt" finish. It definetly is black and it definetly is a coating. My best guess is it's a powder coating that is heat set. That would make it very solvent resistant. Does any one know anything about this coating? Thanks
